There is disclosed herein a toaster () including: a housing (); a pair of opposing food guards () located within the housing () and defining a toasting cavity () for receiving foodstuff to be toasted; a pair of heating elements () located within the housing (), each heating element () being located on a respective side of the pair of food guards (), wherein each food guard () is spaced from the corresponding heating element () by a clearance (); and wherein each food guard () has an upwardly-extending portion () that extends upwardly to a portion () that extends transversely from the upwardly-extending portion so as to extend above the corresponding heating element (), the transversely-extending portion () of each food guard () projecting away from the opposing food guard ().

Toaster

A toaster () having a side wall () with a reflective surface () to reflect radiant heat towards a toasting chamber (), and an external surface to which there is attached a sensor assembly (). The sensor assembly () provides a source beam to illuminate part of the product and receives a reflected beam that is received by a sensor, with the sensor providing a signal indicative of a property of the reflected beam and therefore a chromatic property of the product.

Toaster sensing device

A bench mixer has a combined whisk and scraper attachment. In preferred embodiments, the mixer has a processor configured to access data indicative of a respective power limit to be applied to a motor for each of a plurality of user selectable speed settings and monitors motor speed to compare against a user selected speed setting. The processor increases the power applied to the motor, up to a respective power limit if the current speed is lower than the user selected speed setting.

Bench mixer
