The present disclosure relates to downhole fluid additives including a clay, a hydroxylated polymer, a cation, and water. The disclosure further relates to downhole fluids, including drilling fluids, spaces, cements, and proppant delivery fluids containing such as downhole fluid additive and methods of using such fluids. The downhole fluid additive may have any of a variety of functions in the downhole fluid and may confer any of a variety of properties upon it, such as salt tolerance or desired viscosities even at high downhole temperatures.

Downhole fluids and methods of use thereof

A method of cementing a subterranean formation includes providing a cement composition comprising cementitious material, aqueous base fluid, nanoparticles, synthetic clay, and a thixotropic modifier, where the solid materials are about 0 wt % to about 40 wt % of the total weight of the cement composition; introducing the cement composition into a subterranean formation; and allowing the cement composition to set in the subterranean formation. Cement compositions include cementitious material, aqueous base fluid, nanoparticles, synthetic clay, and a thixotropic modifier.

Cement composition for lost circulation application and method of cementing

A cement composition for use in a well that penetrates a subterranean formation comprising: cement; and water, wherein the water is in a concentration in the range of about 220% to about 800% by weight of the cement, wherein the cement composition is acid soluble. A method of cementing in a subterranean formation comprises: introducing a cement composition into a wellbore penetrating the subterranean formation, wherein at least a portion of the subterranean formation has a temperature less than or equal to the freezing point of an aqueous liquid, and wherein the cement composition comprises: (A) cement; (B) water; and (C) a pozzolan, wherein the cement composition has a heat of hydration of less than 50 BTU per pound; and causing or allowing the cement composition to set in the wellbore after the step of introducing. The pozzolan can have a calcium oxide concentration of less than 15% by weight of the pozzolan, and the pozzolan can have a concentration of at least 15% by weight of the cement. Gas hydrates can be present in or adjacent to a portion of the well.

Pozzolan for use in a cement composition having a low heat of hydration

A cement composition for use in an oil or gas well, the cement composition comprises: a calcium aluminate cement; water; an organic acid; and a polymeric mixture comprising: (A) water; (B) citric acid; (C) a first polymer, wherein the first polymer: (i) comprises a cellulose backbone and carboxymethyl functional groups; and (ii) has a molecular weight of less than 100,000; and (D) a second polymer, wherein the second polymer: (i) comprises a lignosulfonate; and (ii) has a molecular weight of less than 100,000, wherein a test composition consisting essentially of: the cement; the water; the organic acid; and the polymeric mixture, and in the same proportions as in the cement composition has a thickening time of at least 5 hours at a temperature of 300&#xb0; F. (148.9&#xb0; C.) and a pressure of 10,000 psi (68.9 MPa).

A method of servicing a wellbore comprising preparing a composition comprising a calcium aluminate cement, water, and a fluid loss additive wherein the fluid loss additive comprises an acid gelling polymer, placing the composition in the wellbore, and allowing the composition to set. A method of servicing a wellbore comprising placing into a wellbore having a bottom hole static temperature of greater than about 50&#xb0; F. and/or a pH of from about 3 to about 9 a cement slurry comprising a calcium aluminate cement having an aluminum oxide content of greater than about 60 wt. % based on the total weight of the calcium aluminate cement and an acid-gelling polymer wherein the cement slurry has a fluid loss at 10 cc/10 min. to about 600 cc/30 min.

Wellbore servicing compositions comprising a fluid loss agent and methods of making and using same

According to an embodiment, a method of cementing in a subterranean formation comprises: introducing a cement composition into the subterranean formation, wherein the cement composition comprises: cement; water; and calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) seeds, wherein a test cement composition consisting essentially of: the cement; the water; and the C-S-H seeds, and in the same proportions as in the cement composition, develops a compressive strength of at least 1,200 psi (8.3 MPa) when tested at 24 hours, a temperature of 60&#xb0; F. (15.6&#xb0; C.), and a pressure of 3,000 psi (20.7 MPa); and allowing the cement composition to set. According to another embodiment, the C-S-H seeds are mesoscopic particles, nanoparticles, or combinations thereof, and wherein the C-S-H seeds are in a concentration in the range of about 1% to about 5% by weight of the cement.

Methods for cementing in a subterranean formation using a cement composition containing calcium silicate hydrate seeds

A well treatment composition comprises a surfactant comprising a substituted ethoxylated phenol having at least one substituent, 1 to 14 moles of ethylene oxide, and the substituent being an alkyl, alkene, or alkyne with a carbon chain length in the range of 4 to 25, wherein the substituted ethoxylated phenol is selected from the group consisting of: ortho-, para-, or meta-substituted ethoxylated phenol; cardanol ethoxylate; derivatives thereof; and combinations of any of the foregoing. Preferably, the surfactant comprises cardanol ethoxylate, a substituted cardanol ethoxylate, and derivatives thereof. A method of cementing in a subterranean formation comprises: introducing a cement composition into the subterranean formation, wherein the cement composition comprises: (A) cement; (B) water; and (C) the surfactant; and allowing the cement composition to set.
