A system for viewing shopping information on a social networking platform is disclosed. At the social networking platform, the system receives a request from a user device corresponding to a first user of the social networking platform to view a list of a second user of the social networking platform. The list may include items offered for transaction on a network-based commerce server. In response to receiving the request from the user device, the system forwards the request to the network-based commerce server, and then receives updated information for at least one item on the list from the network-based corner server. Then, the system communicates the updated information received from the network-based commerce server to the user device.

A method receives a request via an application program interface that is presented by a network-based marketplace platform in a peer-to-peer architecture and utilized to receive the request from a network-based social platform. The request includes an identifier that identifies an item that is being offered for sale on the network-based marketplace platform. The method generates a virtual gift based on the item and interface information including the virtual gift. The method further communicates the interface information via the application program interface to the network-based social platform in the peer-to-peer architecture. The interface information includes the visually perceptible interface element that is configured to enable, upon selection, a purchase of the item on which the virtual gift is based by utilizing the application program interface to access the network-based marketplace platform.

A system, computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and computer-implemented method for communicating shopping information is disclosed. The system receives control information for managing access to a list corresponding to a user and including at least one item listed for sale. The system then determines that the control information allows disclosure of the list to other users having a particular type of relationship with the user. The system may then communicate the list to client devices of other users having the particular type of relationship with the user.

Systems and a method to facilitate a purchase of an item on a network-based marketplace are described. The method generates, at a network-based marketplace platform, a virtual gift based on an item for sale at the network-based marketplace platform and communicates interface information to a network-based social platform that includes the virtual gift.
