A contact system of a circuit breaker includes a fixed contact. The contact system also includes a moveable contact arm assembly comprising at least one moveable contact arm having a moveable contact thereon, the moveable contact arm moveable to define a closed condition and a blow open condition. The contact system further includes a carrier assembly operatively coupled to the moveable contact arm. The contact system yet further includes a latch plate operatively coupled to the carrier assembly. The contact system also includes a trip shaft operatively coupled to the carrier assembly, the trip shaft having a non-circular region defining an engagement surface disposed in contact with the latch plate in the closed condition. The contact system further includes a biasing portion of the moveable contact arm configured to rotate the trip shaft out of engagement with the latch plate and into the blow open condition.

Moveable contact arm releases latch plate engagement in a circuit breaker

A moveable contact arm assembly includes a moveable contact arm having a moveable contact thereon. Also included is a carrier assembly operatively coupled to the moveable contact arm. Further included is a first end plate operatively coupled to the carrier assembly and a bottom bracket operatively coupled to the first end plate. Yet further included is a first latch member coupled to the bottom bracket, the first latch member comprising a first guiding surface and defining a first recess portion. Also included is a guide pin extending from the carrier assembly and in contact with the first guiding surface of the first latch member during movement of the moveable contact arm assembly. Also included is a first stop pin extending from the carrier assembly and disposed in the first recess portion of the first latch member in the blow open condition of the circuit breaker.

Retaining assembly for a circuit breaker contact system

A circuit breaker with a locking mechanism is provided, which ensures that circuit breaker is switched OFF before applying any trip free locks. The circuit breaker includes a lay shaft coupled to the circuit breaker contacts, a lay shaft cam coupled to the lay shaft, a lifting plate configured to interface with the lay shaft cam, and a padlock plate configured to engage the lifting plate.

Disclosed herein is a breaker interlock system. The system includes, a trip unit for a breaker, and a breaker receptive of the trip unit. The breaker is closable when the trip unit is assembled thereto and the breaker is non-closable when the trip unit is not assembled to the breaker. The interlock system is further configured to prevent disassembly of the trip unit from the breaker when the breaker is in a closed configuration. The breaker having a plurality of solenoids and each of the plurality of solenoids is in operable communication with the breaker to trip the breaker on command. A first of the plurality of solenoids is responsive to a signal from the breaker via the trip unit, and a second of the plurality of solenoids is responsive to an externally supplied signal from a source other than the electronic trip unit.

Breaker interlock system and method

Disclosed is a visual and electrical indication on the status of 'Readiness to close' (RTC) for circuit breakers. Exemplary embodiments include a circuit breaker apparatus, including a lay shaft coupled to circuit breaker contacts, a lay shaft cam profile coupled to the lay shaft, a trip free plate coupled to the lay shaft cam profile, a trip paddle coupled to the trip free plate, wherein the trip paddle is coupled to a trip shaft and a ready to close indicator coupled to the trip free plate and charging cam assembly.

Readiness for closing indicator for circuit breakers

A spring discharge mechanism for a circuit breaker is provided. The mechanism includes two linkages for crashing or discharging the circuit breaker compression springs to allow the circuit breaker to be used in either fixed breaker installation or in an installation having a drawout mechanism. The secondary mechanism includes a manual activation linkage that couples with an interface plate. The interface plate is coupled to an opening latch shaft and a closing latch shaft that cooperates to discharge the circuit breaker compression springs. An interface lever is also coupled to the interface plate. The interface lever includes a roller that interacts with a pivoting cam lever coupled to a drawout mechanism. The cam lever interacts with the roller causing the interface lever to rotate the interface plate, the opening latch shaft and the closing latch shaft.

Spring discharge mechanism for circuit breaker

An accessory for providing mechanical communication between a rotatable latching shaft and an actuation device of an electrical circuit breaker includes a lever, a working surface, and a snap fitting. The lever includes an engagement orifice. The engagement orifice is receptive to the rotatable latching shaft. The working surface is in mechanical communication with the actuation device. The snap fitting is securely mated with the rotatable latching shaft.
