An occlusion system includes a delivery catheter having an elongate body defining a delivery lumen, and an occlusion device including a bundle of elongate occlusion wires configured for simultaneous delivery through the delivery lumen. At least a portion of each of the occlusion wires includes a shape memory material and has a preformed shape. The occlusion system includes a delivery configuration in which each of the occlusion wires is positioned within the delivery lumen, urged against the preformed shape, and substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the delivery lumen, and a post-deployment configuration in which each of the occlusion wires is released from the delivery lumen and conforms to the preformed shape. According to the preformed shape, each of the occlusion wires has a longitudinal segment remaining parallel to the longitudinal axis and a curved end providing an outward radial force with respect to the longitudinal axis.

A variable stiffness catheter having two concentric coils. A first coil is fixed with relation to the body of the catheter and a second coil is able to rotate in the space between adjacent turns of the first coil. The second coil translates axially in response to being rotated. When the second coil is advanced to its distal position, the stiffness is maximized. When the second coil is retracted proximally, the stiffness of the coil is reduced.

Variable stiffness catheter

An occluding device apparatus includes an embolization coil with a distal end and a proximal end with an opening and an attacher that is threaded through the opening at the proximal end of the embolization coil. The apparatus further comprises a delivery kit for delivery of the embolization coil in a body cavity. The kit comprises a guide catheter for percutaneous introduction of the embolization coil and an inner catheter slidably disposed within the guide catheter during insertion. The inner catheter comprises a proximal end and a distal end. The inner catheter further includes a hub disposed adjacent the proximal end. The kit further comprises a guide wire slidably disposed within the inner catheter. The guide wire provides a path during insertion thereof within a body cavity. The kit further comprises a pushwire to advance the embolization coil through the inner catheter.

Stable screw-type detachment mechanism

A reperfusion system and method of perfusing a blood vessel using the reperfusion system are provided. The system includes an introducer sheath, a middle catheter extending through the introducer sheath, and a balloon microcatheter extending through the middle catheter. A connecting tube extends between a lumen of the introducer sheath and a valve at a proximal end of the microcatheter. A flow path is defined along a lumen of the introducer sheath, through the connecting tube, into the microcatheter, and out of a distal opening of the microcatheter. The balloon is disposed adjacent the exit point of the flow path to reduce reflux. Embolic material can be introduced into the microcatheter at the valve to exit at the same location as the blood flow.

Perfusion regulation system

A delivery device for delivering material into a catheter through a catheter port includes a cannula having a generally tubular shape and a distal end and a stability collet having a distal attachment portion configured to attach the stability collet to a catheter port. The stability collet has a longitudinal channel through which the cannula extends. The longitudinal channel is dimensioned to allow a longitudinal movement of the cannula in the longitudinal channel. The delivery device further includes an elastic member acting between the cannula and the stability collet. The elastic member biases the cannula distally relative to the stability collet. Thus, when the stability collet is attached to the catheter port, the cannula is urged toward the catheter port, thus reducing a risk of improper alignment between the cannula and the catheter port.

Delivery device for vascular occluding device

A variable stiffness catheter having two concentric coils. A first coil is fixed with relation to the body of the catheter and a second coil is able to rotate in the space between adjacent turns of the first coil. The second coil translates axially in response to being rotated. When the second coil is advanced to its distal position, the stiffness is maximized. When the second coil is refracted proximally, the stiffness of the coil is reduced.

An intravascular tissue removal tool has an elongated flexible sheath with a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end, the lumen having a distal lumen diameter near the distal end; cutting elements extending into the lumen near the distal end of the flexible sheath; a forceps having an open state and a closed state, and further having an extended position relative to the flexible sheath, in which the forceps is located substantially outside the flexible sheath near the distal end and a retracted position relative to the flexible sheath, in which the forceps is located substantially inside the flexible sheath; and an elongated actuation member being attached to the forceps for switching the forceps between the open state and the closed state and for moving the forceps between the extended state and the retracted state.

Device and method for removing tissue inside a body vessel

Sizing an internal body structure in a patient includes guiding a sizing mechanism via a wire guide to a target location within the internal body structure, inflating a balloon of the sizing mechanism at the target location, and injecting a contrast fluid into the internal body structure. The inflated balloon blocks a flow of the injected contrast fluid to indicate that a size of the inflated balloon is accordant with a size of the body structure. Related apparatus is also disclosed.

Method of sizing internal body structure, and mechanism and system for same

A fibrin removal assembly includes a single helical coil with a plurality of windings. A plurality of cutting elements extends from the windings into the lumen of the coil. Each of the cutting elements has a cutting edge, and all cutting edges point in a blade direction relative to a circumferential direction that promotes a penetration of tissue by the cutting elements in a cutting direction about the longitudinal axis and evading in a rotational direction opposite to the cutting direction. The cutting elements may further have a dull edge acting as radially inward ramps for tissue during a rotation in the second rotational direction. The windings may be wound in a direction that translates into a proximal movement of the coil when the coil is rotated in the cutting direction and into a distal movement when the coil is rotated opposite to the cutting direction.

Helical fibrin removal tool

Disclosed are a tool and a method for removing tissue inside a body vessel. A first helical coil has a first pitch and a first lumen. The first coil is threaded into a tubular hollow body that is lined with a spiral thread with a second pitch that is substantially the same as the first pitch. The hollow body may be a second coil. A first set of cutting elements extends from the first coil into the first lumen. A second set of cutting elements extends from the hollow body into the first lumen. The first and second sets of cutting elements are arranged with respect to each other such that a screw-like movement of the first helical coil relative to the hollow body causes a cutting element of the first set and a cutting element of the second set to pass each other closely enough to cut tissue.
