A system for a row unit of a planting implement can include a frame. A residue manager assembly can be operably coupled with the frame. The residue manager assembly can include a ground-engaging tool. An actuator can be configured to alter a position of the ground-engaging tool relative to the frame. A sensor assembly can be configured to capture data indicative of a parameter associated with the ground-engaging tool. A computing system can be communicatively coupled to the actuator and the sensor assembly. The computing system can be configured to receive the data indicative of the parameter associated with the ground-engaging tool and activate the actuator to alter the position of the ground-engaging tool relative to the frame based on a deviation of the detected position of the ground-engaging tool from a defined tool position range of the ground-engaging tool.

The wheel assembly includes a wheel comprising an outer ground-engaging element and an inner hub extending radially inwardly from the outer ground-engaging element. The wheel assembly further includes a sensor positioned within the internal cavity of the press wheel.

Moreover, the row unit includes an actuator, a gearbox coupled to the actuator, and a threaded shaft coupled to the gearbox. In addition, the row unit includes an actuation assembly such that the actuation assembly transmits rotation of the threaded shaft into linear motion of the linkage arm. The actuation assembly includes a hook arm having a first end forming a hook that directly couples to the linkage arm and a second end pivotably coupled to the frame. Furthermore, the actuation assembly includes a collar threadingly coupled to the threaded shaft.

Row unit for a seed-planting implement having a furrow depth adjustment system

A system for monitoring seed placement within the ground during the performance of a planting operation includes a row unit including a furrow opening assembly configured to create a furrow in the soil and a furrow closing assembly configured to close the furrow after the seeds have been deposited therein. Particularly, the seeds are coated seeds that are coated with a coating having a coating dielectric property that is greater than a dielectric property of the seeds without the coating. The system further includes a seed placement sensor supported relative to the row unit and configured to generate data indicative of the coated seeds as planted underneath a surface of the soil. Additionally, the system includes a computing system configured to determine a seed placement parameter associated with the coated seeds underneath the surface of the soil based at least in part on the data generated by the seed placement sensor.

Systems and methods for monitoring seed placement within the ground

A system for monitoring seed placement within the ground during the performance of a planting operation includes a row unit configured to create a furrow in the soil for depositing seeds and to close the furrow after the seeds have been deposited therein, where the seeds deposited within the soil include both real seeds and artificial seeds. The system may further include a seed sensor supported relative to the row unit and configured to generate data indicative of the artificial seeds as planted underneath a surface of the soil according to a dielectric property of the artificial seeds. Additionally, the system may include a computing system configured to receive the data generated by the seed sensor, and to determine a seed-related parameter associated with the artificial seeds as planted underneath the surface of the soil based at least in part on the data generated by the seed sensor.

Systems and methods for monitoring seed placement within the ground using artificial seeds

A system for controlling the operation of a row cleaning device of a seed-planting implement may include a row cleaning device, at least one row sensor, and a controller. The row cleaning device may move field materials away from a travel path of a component of a seed-planting implement, where the component is positioned aft of the row cleaning device along a direction of travel of the seed-planting implement. The at least one row sensor may generate data indicative of a composition of the field materials moved by the row cleaning device. The controller may be configured to receive the data from the at least one row sensor as the seed planting implement moves across the field, and to monitor the composition of the field materials moved by the row cleaning device based at least in part on the data received from the at least one row sensor.

System and method for controlling the operation of a row cleaning device of a seed-planting implement

A system for a row unit of a planting implement includes a frame operably coupled with a toolbar. One or more ground-engaging tools can be operably coupled with the frame. A depth adjustment system includes one or more actuators and a sensor system configured to capture data indicative of a soil characteristic. A computing system is communicatively coupled to the one or more actuators and the sensor system. The computing system is configured to receive the data indicative of the soil characteristic, determine a probability of a penetration variation of the one or more ground-engaging tools relative to a respective depth range for each of the one or more ground-engaging tools, and perform a control action based at least in part on the probability deviating from a defined threshold.

A row unit for a seed-planting implement includes a frame, a gauge wheel arm pivotably coupled to the frame, and a gauge wheel rotatably coupled to the gauge wheel arm. Additionally, the row unit includes a wobble bracket configured to engage the gauge wheel arm and a linkage arm coupled to the wobble bracket. Moreover, the row unit includes an actuator, a gearbox coupled to the actuator, and a threaded shaft coupled to the gearbox. In addition, the row unit includes an actuation arm having a first end and a second end opposed to the first end, with the first end forming a hook that directly couples to the linkage arm and the second end coupled to the threaded shaft such that the actuation arm transmits rotation of the threaded shaft into linear motion of the linkage arm.

An agricultural implement system that may utilize a central press wheel inflation system to provide variable pressure to press wheels within multiple row units distributed across a width of the agricultural implement system. The agricultural implement system may automatically modify a shape or contact area of the press wheels using variations of press wheel pressure based on various sensor data and performance/behavior data of other row unit control systems. The central press wheel inflation system may provide one or more air lines coupled to the press wheels, allowing internal pressure of the press wheels to be adjusted, thus effectively creating a V-shaped or V-press-like second stage contact patch that may be beneficial in certain soil conditions.

A system for automatically controlling fertilizer application during the performance of a planting operation includes a row unit of a planting implement, the row unit being configured to deposit seeds within soil and having a fertilizer applicator configured to selectively dispense fertilizer. The system further includes a first sensor that generates first data indicative of a first nutrient-related parameter(s) within a field, and a second sensor supported on the planting implement that generates second data indicative of a second nutrient-related parameter(s) within the field, rearward of the row unit. A computing system determines an initial amount of the nutrient(s) within the field based on the first data, controls an operation of the fertilizer applicator to dispense the fertilizer onto the field, and determines an updated amount of the nutrient(s) within the field based on the second data.

Moreover, a controller of the disclosed system may be configured to identify a plurality of field material units within the field material cloud based on the image data captured by the imaging device. In one aspect, a system for determining soil clod size or soil surface residue coverage of a field may include an agricultural implement configured to perform a non-soil-working operation on the field as the agricultural implement is towed across the field. A draft load control system for an agricultural implement includes a row unit, a down force system configured to apply a force within or to the row unit, a draft load sensor disposed on the row unit and configured to generate a sensor signal indicative of a draft load on the row unit, and a controller that includes a memory and a processor. The controller is configured to receive the sensor signal from the draft load sensor indicative of the draft load on the row unit, and in response to the draft load exceeding a threshold range, perform a control operation, a monitoring operation, or both.
