A system and method for providing an air conditioning compressor efficiency in a vehicle. The method and system includes determining one or more vehicle driving scores based on one or more vehicle driving factors. The system and method additionally includes predicting when the vehicle will be put into the vehicle idle stop state based on the one or more vehicle driving scores and providing air conditioning during a plurality of vehicle operating states. The providing of air conditioning during a plurality of vehicle operating states includes disabling an air conditioner compressor and providing cooling to a vehicle cabin from a cold storage evaporator when the vehicle is put into the vehicle idle stop state and continuing to provide cooling from the cold storage evaporator when the vehicle operating state changes from the vehicle idle stop state to an engine enabled state.

System and method for providing an air conditioner efficiency control for a vehicle

A system and method for detecting low levels of humidity (i.e. less than 10%) inside an automotive vehicle is provided whereby the total absolute humidity inside the vehicle is determined by multiplying the number of occupants in the vehicle by an absolute humidity factor to obtain a total absolute humidity expelled by the vehicle occupants. The absolute humidity outside the vehicle is added to the total absolute humidity expelled by the vehicle occupants to arrive at a total vehicle cabin absolute humidity.

Low humidity detection system and method thereof

A vehicle heating, ventilation and air conditioning ('HVAC') system includes an HVAC control, a fan, an evaporator downstream from the fan, a cooler box downstream from the evaporator, a condenser in fluid communication with the evaporator and a compressor in fluid communication with the condenser and the evaporator. A method for cooling items using the HVAC system includes detecting a cooler box signal from the HVAC control, in response to detecting the cooler box signal, opening or closing a valve interposed between the evaporator and the cooler box, and in response to detecting the cooler box signal, performing at least one of the following: changing an HVAC mode or adjusting power delivered to the fan. Opening the valve can allow cool air to travel through a passage toward the cooler box. Closing the valve can block cool air from traveling through the passage toward the cooler box.

Method and system for cooling items using vehicle HVAC system

A vehicle heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system includes front and rear HVAC systems. A controller receives data from front and rear control panels and controls the front and rear HVAC systems. Actuating a rear manual button on the front control panel allows control of the rear HVAC system via the rear control. Engine coolant temperature is used to judge if the vehicle has been inoperative for a long time. If the vehicle has not been inoperative for long, and the rear manual button was actuated prior to the vehicle shut down, rear manual control over the rear HVAC system is enabled. If the vehicle has been inoperative for a long time, or if the rear manual button was not actuated immediately prior to vehicle shut down, rear manual control is not enabled, thereby preventing operation of the rear HVAC system by the rear control panel.

HVAC reset logic improvement for rear control usability

A method of controlling a vehicle heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Outside or ambient temperature, evaporator temperature, and coolant temperature are measured with sensors. These values, along with a TAO, which is a calculated value of outlet temperature in the vehicle, are sent to a controller. The controller determines a predicted heater core outlet temperature based upon the coolant temperature. Based upon the outside air temperature and coolant temperature, the controller will decide whether to use the previously determined estimated heater core outlet temperature or to substitute an alternate value for the heater core outlet temperature to determine a position for the air mix door. After calculating the air mix door position, the controller signals an air mix door movement device to adjust the air mix door to the required position. Position of the air mix door affects the air temperature inside of the vehicle.
