A console for an exercise device includes a translational mechanism and a rotational mechanism. During operation, a component of the exercise device may prevent rotation or at least partially obscure the user's view of the display. The translational mechanism may move the console out of the way of the component so that the console may be moved and the display visible to the user when performing an exercise activity while dismounted from the exercise device.

A treadmill includes a tread belt that is rotatable in a forward direction and a backward direction. Before changing rotation directions on the tread belt, the treadmill implements a safety action. The safety action includes an alert and input in response to the alert to improve the safety of the user.

An elliptical exercise machine, in one embodiment, includes a first assembly pivotally coupled with a second assembly and at least one assist mechanism. The first assembly includes a first frame member, a rotational resistance mechanism associated with the first frame member, a first foot support member pivotally coupled to a portion of the rotational mechanism and a second foot support member pivotally coupled to another portion of the rotational mechanism. The second assembly includes a second frame member, a first reciprocating arm pivotally coupled with the second frame member, a second reciprocating arm pivotally coupled with the second frame member. In one embodiment, the assist mechanism may include a folding assist mechanism to provide resistance between the assemblies during a folding transition. In another embodiment, the assist mechanism may include a rotational assist mechanism to assist a user in transitioning the elliptical machine to an upright storage position.

Folding elliptical lift assist system

Embodiments of an elliptical exercise machine are provided including an elliptical exercise machine having a rear mechanism that is foldable or collapsible from an operating position to a storage position. In one embodiment, the elliptical machine includes a first assembly pivotally coupled with a second assembly. The first assembly includes a first frame member, a rear rotational mechanism and first and second foot supports operably coupled with the rotational mechanism. The second assembly includes a second frame member, a first reciprocating arm and a second reciprocating arm. The second assembly may be displaced relative to the first assembly from an operating position to a storage position without having to alter the operational relationships of the components of the first assembly and without having to alter the operational relationships of the components of the second assembly.

Folding rear drive elliptical

An elliptical exercise machine, in one aspect of the invention, includes at least one frame member, a rear rotational mechanism associated with the at least one frame member, a first foot support member pivotally coupled to a portion of the rotational mechanism, a second foot support member pivotally coupled to another portion of the rotational mechanism, a plurality of support pads, each support pad having an engagement surface lying substantially in a first plane and a plurality of support structures, each support structure having an engagement surface lying substantially in a second plane, the first plane being at a defined angle relative to the second plane. The entire elliptical machine may be rotated through the defined angle to place the elliptical machine in a storage position. In one embodiment, the first assembly may be pivotal relative to the second assembly.

Folding elliptical stabilization system

Incline mechanisms are provided for adjusting an incline of an inclinable portion of an exercise device. The incline mechanism may include one or more racks disposed on a frame, such as a generally upright support structure of a treadmill. One or more pinions may be movably connected to the inclinable portion of the exercise device, such as a treadbase of a treadmill, and may engage the one or more racks. An incline motor may rotate the pinions, which causes the pinions to ride up or down the racks. As the pinions rides up or down the racks or linear gear bars, the incline of the inclinable portion of the exercise device is increased or decreased. The pinions may rotate between various positions on the racks which correspond to various inclines and declines, including fully inclined, fully declined, and neutral positions.

An elliptical exercise machine with adjustable ramp is provided and comprises a frame, first and second reciprocating foot supports, each foot support having a foot placement pad, first and second swing arms being pivotally connected to an upright support structure, first and second link arms being connected to a respective swing arm and a second end of each link arm being interconnected to a second end of a respective reciprocating foot support, a drive assembly positioned on the upright support structure, wherein a first end of each reciprocating foot support is movably linked to the drive assembly, and a ramp assembly adjustably linked to the frame by an adjustment mechanism coupled to the frame and the ramp assembly, the adjustment mechanism being configured to adjust the position of the ramp assembly and to thereby adjust stride movements of the respective foot placement pads.
