A noise suppression system for an air conditioning compressor includes an AC line, an AC line fitting and a muffler. At least a portion of the muffler is integrally formed with the AC line fitting.

An air inlet system for an automotive HVAC system has a housing comprising a first cylindrical segment enclosing an interior space and having a first radial surface with a first angular divergence. The first radial surface has a fresh air aperture and a recirculation aperture for radially receiving fresh air and recirculated air, respectively. The housing further comprises an outlet body with an exit aperture. A pivoting door element is mounted in the interior space and shaped as a second cylindrical segment with a second radial surface with a second angular divergence which is less than the first angular divergence. The door element has a pivot axis that allows the second radial surface to slide along the first radial surface. The door element pivots to selectably align the opening with the fresh air aperture or the recirculation aperture in order to 1) block the fresh air aperture without blocking the recirculation aperture, 2) simultaneously block portions of the fresh air aperture and the recirculation aperture, 3) block the recirculation aperture without blocking any of the fresh air aperture, or 4) block the recirculation aperture while blocking only a portion of the fresh air aperture.

A tunable damper for a torque transferring assembly having a tubular shaft including an inner surface defining an elongated cavity includes an input channeling portion and an output channeling portion, wherein each channeling portion is formed from a first predetermined foam material having a first density and a diameter sufficient for providing a resilient bias force against the inner surface of the tubular shaft. The tunable damper further includes at least one absorber formed from a second predetermined foam material having a second density different from the first predetermined foam material and first density, respectively. The at least one absorber is positioned between the input and output channeling portions for attenuating a first predetermined range of frequencies of noise produced or transmitted by the torque transferring assembly.

A method of computing a belt tension distribution based on a multibody modeling method for the metal pushing V-Belt for CVTs. In order to reduce the complexity of the model, the ring is modeled as a virtual element that exists only as the second order differential equation. The virtual ring concept relies upon the instant locations and orientations of the blocks to compute total length, local bending, block-to-ring friction distribution, and friction-induced tension distribution of the ring. Simulation results show a good agreement with experimental results both in ring tension distribution and block compression distribution along the belt.
