A device for cutting an aerial obstacle includes a mounting frame; an anchor point for attachment to a hoist; a cutter mounted to the mounting frame, the cutter having opposing cutting blades for engaging and cutting the obstacle when positioned therebetween; a power supply mounted to the mounting frame, the power supply providing power to the cutter for actuating the cutting blades; and a guiding frame extending from the mounting frame, the guiding frame providing an inner guiding surface for directing the obstacle to a position between the opposing cutting blades of the cutter. The device is usable for cutting aerial obstacles, such as cables, beams and/or branches.

Hoistable cutter

Apparatus and methods for supporting human external cargo from the hoist of a hoist-equipped helicopter are provided. The apparatus has at least one personal harness for supporting a user; and at least one harness segment with a top end point attachable to the helicopter hoist through an attachable fitting and at least one bottom end point directly or indirectly attachable to the personal harness. The harness segment, and the personal harness externally support the user from the helicopter hoist and allows the user to be safely suspended from the helicopter in order for work or rescue operations to be administered by the user.

Personnel carrying devices

An aerial fire suppression system mountable to a helicopter fuselage is provided. The system having a tank divided into at least two compartments by a barrier. The base of each compartment having an outwardly opening door. The system also having a retractable snorkel unit attached to the tank for transferring liquid from a liquid source into the compartments. An inflatable seal minimizes the leakage of the liquid from the compartments at the junction where the outwardly opening door engages the tank. A modified cyclic controls the operation of the tank and the components thereof. Also described is a method of suppressing a fire using the aerial fire suppression system.
