Implantable device embodiments, such as stents, and particularly esophageal stents, formed of a scaffolding structure are disclosed. The scaffolding structure is formed of one or more strand elements arranged in a braided pattern. A covering may coat the scaffolding structure. A valve can be secured to the scaffolding structure and/or the covering. Anti-migration features may be formed by bends in the one or more strand elements. The bends forming the anti-migration features protrude outwardly away from an outer surface of the implantable device.

Esophageal stent

A stent comprised of a valve and a scaffolding structure having components configured to allow at least a portion of the stent to decrease in diameter in response to an axial force applied to the stent. Further, the components and elements of the stent may be configured to balance transverse forces applied to the stent, thus reducing the incidence of infolding.

Stent embodiments formed of a scaffolding structure are disclosed. Some embodiments may include a valve. A portion of the scaffolding structure may include a lattice structure formed by a plurality of interconnected arms arranged to form quadrilateral-shaped cells, such as diamond-shaped cells. The scaffolding structure may be formed by rows of strut arms arranged as annular segments and adjacent annular segments interconnected by connectors that extend in the longitudinal direction. The scaffolding structure may also be formed by rows of strut arms arranged in a helical pattern. The scaffolding structure has components configured to allow at least a portion of the stent to decrease in diameter in response to an axial force applied to the stent. Further, the components and elements of the stent may be configured to balance transverse forces applied to the stent, thus reducing the incidence of infolding.

Various embodiments of mouthpieces for use during endoscopic procedures are disclosed herein. According to various embodiments, a mouthpiece may include a shield, a primary instrument channel, a bite block, an oxygen administration channel and a tongue depressor. The shield, bite block, oxygen administration channel and tongue depressor may be integrally formed.

Mouthpiece and methods of use of same

A sharps holding device according to the present invention may include a body providing a housing having a contact surface and at least one needle securement aperture. A needle securement aperture may be configured to allow insertion of at least a portion of a needle or other sharp into the housing. The device may also have one or more needle cushions positioned adjacent to the contact surface. A needle cushion may be configured such that a needle or other sharp inserted through a securement aperture can be inserted into the needle cushion. A lid may be included in the device and configured to secure the one or more needle cushions within the body of the housing. One or more needle cushions may be cooperatively engaged by the contact surface of the body and the lid, and one of the needle cushions may be located between the lid and the contact surface.

Sharps holding device

A temporary needle holder having one or more lateral surface needle holder apertures configured to receive needles therein. The lateral surface needle holder aperture is provided in addition to a top surface needle holder field and is positioned in the side of the temporary needle holder allowing sharp implements to be inserted into the lateral surface needle holder aperture to minimize tipping of the temporary needle holder. A portion of the implement positioned in the lateral needle holder aperture can rest on the support surface on which the temporary needle holder is positioned. A boundary septum is provided between the lateral surface needle holder aperture and the needle holder field on the top surface to prevent passage of the needle apparatus from the need stop field to the lateral surface needle holder aperture to prevent an inadvertent stick or puncture the skin of a practitioner.

A temporary instrument holder having one or more lateral surface instrument holder apertures configured to receive needles therein. The lateral surface instrument holder aperture is provided in addition to a top surface instrument holder portion and is positioned in the side of the temporary instrument holder allowing sharp implements to be inserted into the lateral surface instrument holder aperture to minimize tipping of the temporary instrument holder. A portion of the implement positioned in the lateral instrument holder aperture can rest on the support surface on which the temporary instrument holder is positioned.
