An aspect of the description is directed to hydrolysable silane graft propylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymers useful for moisture curable sealants, the copolymers comprising a propylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer component comprising propylene-derived units and from 5 to 35 wt %, by weight of the propylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer, of ethylene-derived units or a Cto C&#x3b1;-olefin-derived unit, and having, in one embodiment, the following features: a density of from 0.850 to 0.920 g/cm; a MWD of from 1.5 to 20; an Hof less than or equal to 75 J/g; a Tof from 25 to 105&#xb0; C.; and a triad tacticity byC NMR of 75% or greater; and a hydrolysable silane component. The graft copolymer can be combined with oil and/or a thermoplastic to form a graft copolymer composition capable of being cross-linked by exposure to moisture.

Moisture curable propylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymers

The present invention relates to polymer compositions with improved scratch resistance and no or low gloss change of the finished product during heat ageing, methods for making the compositions and useful articles made thereof.

Thermoplastic elastomer compositions

Film tapes comprising a blend of a masterbatch and a propylene-based polymer are provided. The masterbatch comprises a propylene-based elastomer and filler. The propylene-based elastomer has about 50 to about 99 mol % of units derived from propylene, about 1 to about 50 mol % of units derived from C-Ccomonomer and a peak melting point temperature of 115&#xb0; C. or less. The propylene-based polymer comprises about 80 to about 100 mol % units derived from propylene and a peak melting point temperature of greater than 115&#xb0; C. The compositions are suitable to make carpet fiber, carpet yarn, films, film tapes, molded parts and nonwoven fabrics having excellent mechanical properties.

Compositions for making films having improved mechanical properties and methods for making same

Polymeric compositions and methods of making and using such compositions are provided. The compositions incorporate at least one component that is a polymer including propylene-derived units and at least one component that is a styrenic block copolymer. The polymeric compositions are found to have desirable elastomeric properties while at the same time exhibiting beneficial processability characteristics. The unique combination of processability and performance attributes result in the polymeric compositions useful in a variety of applications such as films, fibers, woven and non-woven fabrics, sheets, molded objects, extruded forms, thermoformed objects, and all products made from such application materials.

Polymeric compositions including their uses and methods of production

Disclosed are highly filled thermoplastic olefin compositions and, in particular, thermoplastic olefin compositions that comprise propylene/alpha-olefin copolymers and a high level of organic or inorganic filler. Specifically, the description addresses a filled polymer composition comprising: (a) a first polymer component comprising propylene copolymer having a heat of fusion &#x3c;about 75 J/g and a triad tacticity of from about 50% to about 99%, the first polymer component having a melt flow rate at 230&#xb0; C. &#x2266;about 800 g/10 min.; and (b) at least about 15% by weight of a filler, based on the total weight of the filled composition. Such compositions are useful as sound barriers, flame retardant compositions, roofing membranes, and the like.

Polyolefin composition with high filler loading capacity

A high strength thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) composition is provided. The TPV includes a dispersed rubber component, a polyolefinic thermoplastic resin component, a propylene copolymer and mineral filler present in the amount of 20 wt % to 70 wt % based on total of the thermoplastic vulcanizate composition. Preferably, the propylene copolymer has 60 wt % or more units derived from propylene; includes isotactically arranged propylene derived sequences; and has a heat of fusion less than 45 J/g. Preferably, the mineral filler is halogen free and flame retardant. The high strength TPV can be useful for making a variety of articles for electrical, construction, automotive, and consumer applications, including fuel cell.

High strength thermoplastic elastomers with high filler loading

In one embodiment is a thermoplastic vulcanizates having improved extrusion properties formed from a composition that includes from 20% to about 80% by weight of an elastomer, from about 80% to about 20% by weight of a thermoplastic, from about 0.05 to about 12 phr of a multifunctional methacrylate monomer peroxide curing coagent; and from about 0.02 to about 6 phr of a phosphorous containing stabilizer. The resultant thermoplastic vulcanizate may be cured with a peroxide curing agent and shows improved die lip build up compared to conventionally prepared thermoplastic vulcanizates. Methods of forming thermoplastic vulcanizates having improved die lip build up are also taught.

Thermoplastic vulcanizate compositions having improved extrusion performance and methods of formation thereof

A TPV composition having improved fabricability and surface appearance is achieved by a process for preparing a thermoplastic vulcanizate composition having a dispersed, cross-linked rubber phase in a continuous thermoplastic polypropylene phase comprising: a) providing into melt processing equipment at least the following components; i) at least one thermoplastic polypropylene homopolymer or copolymer having a melt temperature greater than 120&#xb0; C.; ii) 6-12 wt. %, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic vulcanizate composition, at least one propylene copolymer having from 7 to 30 wt. % ethylene, based upon the weight of the random propylene copolymer, and a melting point less than 120&#xb0; C.; iii) at least one cross-linkable rubber, where, if including an ethylene copolymer rubber, said copolymer rubber having equal to or more than 40 wt. % the total copolymer rubber weight; b) melt processing the blend of i), ii), and iii) of a); c) dynamically vulcanizing the cross-linkable rubber iii) in the presence of the thermoplastic i) and random copolymer ii); and d) removing a thermoplastic vulcanizate product of c) from the melt processing equipment, wherein the dispersed, cross-linked rubber phase of the product thermoplastic vulcanizate d) consists of particles having an effective diameter not greater than 2 millimicrons.

Thermoplastic vulcanizates having improved fabricability

Disclosed herein are various compositions, including a transparent compositions with maximum haze of 50%, comprising (including): a first polymer component (FPC) that includes polypropylene having a melting point (Tm) &#x2267;110&#xb0; C.; a second polymer component (SPC) that includes a propylene polymer having 60 wt % or more units derived from propylene, including isotactically arranged propylene derived sequences and Tm&#x3c;105&#xb0; C. or a Heat of Fusion&#x3c;45 J/g, or both; and a hydrocarbon resin having a Tg&#x2267;20&#xb0; C.; wherein: the SPC is present in the amount of &#x2267;10 wt % and &#x2266;70 wt % based on the total weight of a), b) and c) and the composition has: Haze value of &#x2266;50 percent; and Shore A Hardness of 90 or below.

Transparent polyolefin compositions

Disclosed are highly filled thermoplastic olefin compositions and, in particular, thermoplastic olefin compositions that comprise propylene/alpha-olefin copolymers and a high level of organic or inorganic filler. Specifically, the description addresses a filled polymer composition comprising: (a) a first polymer component comprising propylene copolymer having a heat of fusion&#x3c;about 75 J/g and a triad tacticity of from about 50% to about 99%, the first polymer component having a melt flow rate at 230&#xb0; C.&#x2266;about 800 g/10 min.; and (b) at least about 15% by weight of a filler, based on the total weight of the filled composition. Such compositions are useful as sound barriers, flame retardant compositions, roofing membranes, and the like.

Disclosed herein are various compositions, including a transparent compositions comprising propylene-based polymers and a hydrocarbon resin.

A thermoplastic vulcanizate comprising a dynamically-cured rubber, a thermoplastic polymer, and at least 2 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic vulcanizate, of a polyalphaolefin oligomer, where the polyalphaolefin oligomer is characterized by a kinematic viscosity per ASTM D445 at 100&#xb0; C. of at least 35 cSt.
