A luminaire can comprise an optic that extends lengthwise within a linear cavity of a frame of the luminaire. The optic can comprise a diffuser, such as a sheet of diffusing acrylic material, for example. The optic can have edges located at opposing ends of the linear cavity. The luminaire can comprise a cover for each of the two ends of the linear cavity. The covers can cover the edges of the optic, so that at each cavity end, there is an overlap between the optic and the cover. The overlap can provide a gap that compensates for thermal expansion and contraction of the optic relative to the frame, which may have a metal composition. One or more magnets can removably attach the cover to the frame of the luminaire.

Removable covering system for luminaire optic

A luminaire can comprise a frame that provides a cavity for emitting illumination towards a space to be illuminated. A light source, such as a row of light emitting diodes, can emit light into the cavity. The cavity can extend lengthwise between two end caps of the frame that are located at opposing ends of the luminaire. The frame can further comprise two bridges that are located adjacent the end caps, one at each end of the frame. Two rails that extend on opposing sides of the cavity can connect the two bridges to one another. A system of grooves and protrusions can interlock the rails to the bridges. A system of standardized interchangeable components that facilitates rapid manufacture of custom luminaires can comprise the bridges, the rails, and the end caps.

Flexible luminaire

A multi-wing edge-lit structure includes a first edge-lit light guide panel, a second edge-lit light guide panel, and a joiner unit. The first edge-lit light guide panel is adjustably attached to the joiner unit on a first side of the joiner unit. The second edge-lit light guide panel is adjustably attached to the joiner unit on a second side of the joiner unit. The first side and the second side are opposite sides of the joiner unit.

Multi-wing edge-lit structure

A linear light emitting diode ('LED') light fixture includes LED modules that interface with one another to provide a substantially continuous array of LED's. This continuous array allows for substantially uniform light output from the LED light fixture. The LED modules can interface with one another via one or more connectors, which allow two or more LED modules to be electrically and mechanically coupled together. The connectors may be disposed beneath the LED's so that the connectors are not visible when the LED modules are coupled together. The connectors may be disposed along opposite ends of the modules to allow for end-to-end configurations of the modules and/or along side ends of the modules to allow for angled or curved configurations of the modules. The LED modules can be powered via one or more wires, magnets, or clips, which are coupled to a power source.
