A protective case for an electronic device includes a cover with a cavity and a back plate that fits within the cavity of the cover. The cover has an aperture that displays either the back plate or an electronic device, if an electronic device is housed in the protective case. The cover may contain at least one locking latch with three orientations, the locking latch includes a tab. In the first orientation, the tab protrudes into the cavity, engages the back plate, holding the back plate within the cavity of the cover. The locking latch may slide across a portion of the cover to the second orientation, where the tab continues to protrude into the cavity and engage the back plate. Once in the second position, the locking latch is free to rotate to the third position, where the tab no longer protrudes into the cavity, allowing the back plate to be removed from the cavity.

Protective case for portable electronic device

A hand-held interactive electronic device has an electronic display with a touch screen. A plurality of icons is on the touch screen. A frame element separate from the touch screen bounds a portion of the touch screen. A plurality of indicia is on the frame element. Each indicium is in register with a corresponding icon on the touch screen. A processor is operatively coupled to the display. A fixed memory or a removable memory is operatively coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions defining a plurality of functions. Each function is associated with a corresponding indicium on the frame element. The processor is configured to enable the function associated with the corresponding indicium upon selection of the icon registered with the corresponding indicium.

A touch sensitive user interface of the type having a display screen for displaying images representative of menus and selectable list objects, for example; control logic responsive to the touch sensitive user interface for determining the contact position of a first probe and a second probe, such as two separate fingers, thereon, displaying menus including list objects representing primary and secondary features or functions respectively, so that a user may touch a selection on the primary menu with the first probe and subsequently touch an area on the display screen where a contextually related secondary menu is displayed for selection of contextually related features or functions.
