An email payment system and method to provide users with the ability to initiate and send payments to one more recipients via email messaging. A user interface is provided in an email client that allows a user to insert payment with the email. Payment details are collected through one or more payment modals displayed in the email client. A payment object is inserted into the body of the email and is displayed to both the sender and recipient. The payment details captured in the payment object are communicated to a payment processor. The payment processor uses electronic payment accounts associated with the corresponding sender and recipient email addresses to identify the relevant electronic payment accounts and transfer the payment between said accounts. A status of the payment transaction is tracked and displayed within the payment object of the entails residing in both the sender and recipient email client.

Management of emailed payment recipients

Users of a communication system can initiate electronic payments during a communication session hosted by the communication system or via a social network identity page hosted by the communication system. The communication system detects a payment signal from a user of the communication system and the collects payment information details either by displaying a payment object interface in a communication application of the user or receiving payment information input directly from the user's communication device. The payment information includes sender and recipient payment account identifiers that are communicated to a payment processing system for processing and delivery of the designated payment amount to the recipient.

Payments in communication systems

A group including plurality of users is established. A transaction record is maintained for the group that includes a plurality of payment transactions. Each of the plurality of payment transactions involves at least one user of the group. Additionally, a balance is maintained that indicates an amount owed by a first user of the group to a second user of the group based on one or more of the plurality of payment transactions. When a settling event occurs, the balance is settled by initiating a transfer of funds between the first user and the second user.

Changing email text based on payment status

A transfer management system receives a request to transfer an amount of funds from a transferring account maintained by a transferring bank to a receiving account maintained by a receiving bank. The transfer management system determines whether the transferring bank maintains an intermediate transferring account, and whether the receiving bank maintains an intermediate receiving account. If the transferring bank maintains an intermediate transferring account and the receiving maintains an intermediate receiving account, the transfer management system transmits to a transferring bank system of the transferring bank an intra-bank transfer request. The intra-bank transfer request is to transfer the amount of funds from the transferring account to the intermediate transferring account. Additionally, the transfer management system transmits an intra-bank transfer request to a receiving bank system of the receiving bank to transfer the amount of funds from the intermediate receiving account maintained by the receiving bank to the receiving account.

Efficient transfer of funds between accounts

A transaction parameter date set comprising input variables characterizing the transaction conditions are collected when an electronic payment is initiated on an electronic payment system. The collected transaction input variables are used to calculate an expected future transaction value using a decision function. The expected future transaction value identifies high utility transaction based on a comparison of the expected future transaction value to a threshold value established while training the decision function on a training data set of known outcome. A high utility transaction can include behavior that if rewarded is likely to retain current users or grow the electronic payment system network by adding new users. If the expected future transaction value exceeds the threshold value the sender of the electronic payment is rewarded by the system.

Randomized reward system for stored value transactions

A method includes gathering a plurality of instances of online activity associated with a user, analyzing the plurality of instances of online activity to determine a characteristic that is likely to correspond to a profile attribute of the user and generating a profile enrichment suggestion for the user based on the determined characteristic.

Identity crowd-sourced curation

Ranking payment requests includes a peer-to-peer payment system that employs a server configured for receiving a payment request from a requester computing device; receiving location data of the requester network device; receiving a request for a ranking of payment requests; searching social network information of the payor for occurrences of the requester of the payment request; receiving location data of the payor network device, the location data comprising a location of the payor computing device and a location history of the payor computing device; searching a transaction history of the payor; ranking the payment requests based at least in part on one or more of the location of the requester, a strength of social network connections to the payor for each of the payment requesters, and number of previous transactions between the payor and the requester; and providing the ranking of the payment requests to the payor.

Methods for discovering and paying debts owed by a group

A computer-implemented technique is presented. The technique can include selectively initiating, at a mobile computing device including one or more processors, communication between the mobile computing device and a public computing device. The technique can include transmitting, from the mobile computing device, authentication information to the public computing device. The authentication information can indicate access privileges to a private account associated with a user of the mobile computing device. The technique can include receiving, at the mobile computing device, an access inquiry from the public computing device. The access inquiry can indicate an inquiry as to whether the user wishes to login to the private account at the public computing device. The technique can also include transmitting, from the mobile computing device, an access response to the public computing device. The access response can cause the public computing device to provide the user with access to the private account.
