A filter assembly includes a filter housing, a filter housing lid, a filter cartridge, an endplate, and a seal member. The filter housing defines a first cavity and comprises a return passage in fluid communication with the first cavity. The filter housing lid is selectively coupled to the filter housing and defines a second cavity coextensive with the first cavity. The filter cartridge is positioned within the first cavity. The endplate is coupled to a first end of the filter cartridge. The endplate is configured to interface with the filter housing. The seal member is coupled to the endplate and is configured to be received in the return passage. The endplate is configured to partially separate the filter housing from the filter cartridge.

An air cleaner assembly includes a filter housing extending axially along a longitudinal axis and a cover. The filter housing includes at least one sidewall (e.g., an annular sidewall) extending between a first housing end and a second housing end and a retainer formed proximate at least one of the first housing end and the second housing end. The cover is removably coupled to at least one of the first housing end and the second housing. The cover includes a handle assembly having a latch configured to releasably engage the retainer at the fiber housing. The filter element includes filter media and is axially insertable into the filter housing when the cover is removed from the filter housing.

An air cleaner assembly includes a filter housing extending axially along a longitudinal axis and a cover. The filter housing includes at least one sidewall (e.g., an annular sidewall) extending between a first housing end and a second housing end and a retainer formed proximate at least one of the first housing end and the second housing end. A fuel filter system that does not require the periodic draining of a water sump. The system includes a fuel tank for storing fuel and a fuel filter fluidly coupled to the fuel tank for separating water from the fuel. A fuel pump has a suction side and a high pressure side. The high pressure side of the fuel pump is fluidly coupled to the fuel filter for pumping fuel to the fuel filter. A water emulsifier, such as an orifice, is fluidly coupled to the fuel filter to receive water and fuel from the fuel filter and form a water-fuel emulsion. The water-fuel emulsion is supplied to any point in the system on the suction side of the fuel pump, such that the water-fuel emulsion passes through the fuel pump and fuel filter.

A filter apparatus is described that has a torque limiting device, which may be a clutch mechanism, and which provides a protective function for a filter, so as to protect a filter from being over tightened and to thereby prevent damage to filter components. The clutch mechanism can also eliminate or reduce the need for torque measurement of certain filter components. The clutch mechanism can be located on one of the fluid filter, a filter head which engages the fluid filter, or a combination of both the fluid filter and the filter head.

The first and second cartridge frames are movable to an inserted position in the V-shaped carrier frame providing an installed condition with the first and second cartridge frames forming a V-shape, and are movable to an extended position extending beyond the V-shaped carrier frame and providing a replacement-service condition.
