A wirelessly powered airfield lighting device includes a base can and a wireless power transmitter disposed in the base can. The wireless power transmitter can wirelessly transmit power. The lighting device further includes an isolation transformer disposed inside the base can. The isolation transformer is electrically coupled to and between the wireless power transmitter and a power source. The lighting device also includes a light fixture that includes a base disposed on and sealing the top end of the base can and that includes an electronics compartment. The light fixture further includes a wireless power receiver disposed in the electronics compartment and that wirelessly receives power from the wireless power transmitter. The light fixture also includes a light source that receives power from the wireless power receiver.

The present disclosure provides techniques for power factor correction on a constant current system and also provides power line communications on the same power factor correction circuit. In one example embodiment, through controlled charging and draining of an input capacitor, the power factor correction circuit generates an input voltage which is in phase with the input current. Communication data is also embedded in the input voltage and/or input current by further charging and draining of the input capacitor according to a controlled switching scheme which includes both input current phase data and corresponding communication signals.

Power factor correction for constant current input with power line communication

The present disclosure relates to a system and method for wirelessly configuring and diagnosing an airfield lighting system. In particular, the system can include a constant current regulator that comprises a wireless communication interface. The system can also include a plurality of light fixtures where one or more of the light fixtures includes a wireless communication interface. The constant current regulator and the light fixture can communicate via the wireless communication interfaces with a handheld wireless device. Alternatively, the constant current regulator and the light fixture can communicate via the wireless communication interfaces with wireless display devices. The wireless communication interfaces can communicate configuration and diagnostic information.

Wireless configuration and diagnostics of airfield lighting fixtures

The present disclosure provides techniques for power factor correction on a constant current system. In an example embodiment, the present disclosure provides a power factor correction circuit which receives a constant current power input. The power factor correction circuit provides an input voltage tuned to match the phase of the input current. The input voltage is tuned via charging and draining an input capacitor by a switching device. The switching device is driven on a duty cycle synchronously associated with the input current waveform.

Active power factor correction circuit for a constant current power converter

The present disclosure provides techniques for power factor correction on a constant current system without the use of a diode rectifier bridge. In an example embodiment, the present disclosure provides a power factor correction circuit which includes two switching MOSFETs biased in opposite directions which operate during opposite half cycles of the input current. The power factor correction circuit generates an input voltage to match the phase of the input current. The input voltage is generated via charging and draining of an input capacitor by the MOSFETs. The MOSFETs are driven on a duty cycle synchronously associated with the input current wave form.

Bridgeless boost power factor correction circuit for constant current input

The present disclosure provides techniques for a power factor correction system having an arbitrary input waveform. The present disclosure provides two example methods of digital power factor correction that allow for a high power factor on an arbitrary input waveform. The two example methods are applicable to both constant-current inputs and constant-voltage inputs. One example method samples the arbitrary input waveform to produce a reference table used to synchronize the input voltage with the input current in a constant current system, and to synchronize the input current to the input voltage in a constant voltage system. A second example method uses instantaneous input values as a reference in performing power factor correction.
