A two stage process useful for cetane upgrading of diesel fuels. More particularly, the invention relates to a process for selective naphthenic ring-opening utilizing an extremely low acidic distillate selective catalyst having highly dispersed Pt. The process is a two stage process wherein the first stage is a hydrotreating stage for removing sulfur from the feed and the second stage is the selective ring-opening stage.

Selective ring opening process for producing diesel fuel with increased cetane number

A hydrocracking catalyst is provided that includes a crystalline molecular sieve material component having a faujasite structure and an alpha acidity of less than 1, preferably 0.3 or less, and a dispersed Group VIII noble metal component. The extremely low acidity allows selective hydrocracking of the aromatic and naphthenic species in a feedstock, while limiting the cracking of paraffins. The catalyst produces improved yields of products, such as diesel fuel, at high conversion rates and with high cetane values.

Noble metal containing low acidic hydrocracking catalysts

A process, preferably in a counter-current configuration, for selectively cracking carbon-carbon bonds of naphthenic species using a low acidic catalyst, preferably having a crystalline molecular sieve component and carrying a Group VIII noble metal. The diesel fuel products are higher in cetane number and diesel yield.

A process is provided for selectively producing diesel fuel with increased cetane number from a hydrocarbon feedstock. The process includes contacting the feedstock with a catalyst which has a large pore crystalline molecular sieve material component having a faujasite structure and alpha acidity of less than 1, preferably about 0.3 or less. The catalyst also contains a dispersed Group VIII noble metal component which catalyzes the hydrogenation/hydrocracking of the aromatic and naphthenic species in the feedstock.

Process for producing diesel fuel with increased cetane number

The present invention provides a process for alkylating an olefin with an isoparaffin comprising contacting an olefin-containing feed with an isoparaffin-containing feed with a solid catalyst comprising zeolite Beta having a silica:alumina ratio in the as-synthesized state of less than about 18.

An improved process for alkylation of isoparaffins with olefins to yield a product which includes a high proportion of highly branched alkylates for blending into gasolines is disclosed. The catalyst comprises a large pore zeolite such as USY which may be partially or fully exchanged with a cation or cations selected from the rare-earth metals.

There is provided a catalytic oligomerization process. The process involves the use of a catalyst comprising an acidic solid. The acidic solid may comprise a Group IVB metal oxide, such as zirconia, modified with an oxyanion of a Group VIB metal, such as tungsten. The oligomers produced by this process may be hydrogenated to produce thermally stable lubricants and lubricant additives, gasoline and diesel.

The invention provides a process for alkylating an olefin with an isoparaffin comprising contacting an olefin-containing feed in the presence of a thermally stable composition comprising a non-swellable layered chalcogenide of an element having an atomic number of 4, 5, 12 to 15, 20 to 33, 38 to 51, 56 to 83 and greater than 90, inclusive, said layered metal chalcogenide comprising an interspathic polymeric chalcogenide of an element selected from Groups IB, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, IVA, IVB, VA, VB, VIA, VIIA, and VIIIA of the Periodic Table.

Isoparaffin/olefin alkylation over vacancy-containing titanometallate

A process for catalytic cracking and C3/C4 olefin alkylation with phosphorus stabilized faujasite catalyst is disclosed. Catalytic cracking produces C3 and C4 olefins, which are alkylated using phosphorus stabilized and water activated cracking catalyst. Spent alkylation catalyst may be discharged into the FCC unit.

A process is described for redispersing agglomerated metal on a catalyst. The catalyst comprises noble metal on a low acidity oxide support, and the process comprises contacting the catalyst with a gas stream containing about 3 to about 6 Torr chlorine and about 250 to about 750 Torr oxygen under conditions sufficient to achieve redispersion.

A dual function composite catalyst for isomerizing an isomerization feed containing an aromatic C.sub.8 mixture of ethyl benzene and xylene, comprises (a) a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite having a low acid activity as measured by an alpha value of from 0.02 to 11, an average crystal size of not more than 0.4 microns for at least 50% by weight of the crystals, a silica to alumina ratio of at least about 12, a constraint index of about 1 to 12, a xylene sorption capacity greater than 1 gram per 100 grams of zeolite, and an ortho-xylene sorption time for 30 percent of said capacity less than 10 minutes, said sorption capacity and sorption time being measured at 120.degree. C. and a xylene pressure of 4.5.+-.0.8 mm of mercury, and (b) a supported metal of Group VIII of the Periodic Table having a high hydrogenation/dehydrogenation activity to provide the catalyst with a dehydrogenation activity of at least 10. The catalyst has an alpha value of 0.005 to 3.
