A method for data communication between a first node and a second node includes forming one or more redundancy messages from data messages at the first node using an error correcting code and transmitting first messages from the first node to the second node over a data path, the transmitted first messages including the data messages and the one or more redundancy messages. Second messages are received at the first node from the second node, which are indicative of: (i) a rate of arrival at the second node of the first messages, and (ii) successful and unsuccessful delivery of the first messages. A transmission rate limit and a window size are maintained according to the received second messages. Transmission of additional messages from the first node to the second node is limited according to the maintained transmission rate limit and window size.

Packet coding based network communication

An example monitoring system for data collection includes a data collector including a plurality of sensor. The system includes a data storage to store a collector route template for the plurality of sensors with a sensor collection routine defining how the plurality of sensors. The system includes a data acquisition and analysis circuit to receive detection signals and evaluate the detection values with respect to a rule, and further, based on the evaluation of the detection values with respect to the rule, to modify the sensor collection routine.

Methods and systems for the industrial internet of things

A system and method for joint dynamic interest request forwarding and dynamic cache placement and eviction and provided within the context of the Named Data Networking (NDN) architecture. The system and method employ a virtual control plane that operates on the user demand rate for data objects in the network, and an actual plane that handles Interest Packets and Data Packets. Distributed algorithms within the virtual plane achieve network load balancing through dynamic forwarding and caching, thereby maximizing the user demand rate that the NDN network can satisfy. A method of congestion control is also provided to achieve optimal network fairness using the VIP framework.

System and method for joint dynamic forwarding and caching in content distribution networks

A method for data communication between a first node and a second node over a data path includes estimating a rate at which loss events occur, where a loss event is either an unsuccessful delivery of a single packet to the second data node or an unsuccessful delivery of a plurality of consecutively transmitted packets to the second data node, and sending redundancy messages at the estimate rate at which loss events occur.

An example data collection system in an industrial environment includes a data collector in communication with a number of input channels for acquiring collected data. The system includes a data storage that stored the collected data as a number of data pools. The system includes a self-organizing data marketplace engine that receives the data pools, and that is organized based on training a marketplace self-organization with a training set, and further based on feedback from measures of marketplace success with respect to the data pools.

A method, apparatus and computer program product providing improved communication performance through network coding is presented. Coded packets are formed at a source node, the coded packets comprising a combination of original packets at the source node. The coded packets are transmitted to at least one destination node using an unreliable protocol. A reconstruction is formed based on received coded packets at the destination node, wherein when a number of received coded packets are equal to the number of transmitted coded packets the forming a reconstruction comprises forming a complete reconstruction and wherein when the number of received coded packets is less than the number of transmitted coded packets the reconstruction comprises forming a best attempt at reconstruction.

Method and apparatus for improving communication performance through network coding

A network and a communication method are described. The network comprises: source nodes, receiver nodes, and coding nodes. The coding nodes are connected with input links for communication of input signals to the coding nodes and output links for communication of output signals from the coding nodes. The output signals are a linear combination of the input signals. The coefficients of the linear combination are deterministically chosen based on local information available locally at the coding node.
