Herein disclosed is a coin handling apparatus such as a coin packaging apparatus which is free from any trouble that would be caused when the power supply service is interrupted or when the power supply circuit is carelessly broken. The coin handling apparatus includes a rotary solenoid which can rotate back and forth at a predetermined angle thereby to control the opening and closing operations of the guide passage by a rotary pin. Further inclusive is a power source detecting circuit which is made operative to detect the existence of the power supply to the coin handling apparatus thereby to generate output signals respectively corresponding to the existence and nonexistence of the power supply. A drive circuit is further included and made responsive to the output signals of the power source detecting circuit thereby to drive the rotary solenoid so that the rotary pin may open the guide passage in response to the output signal corresponding to the existence of the power supply, until the number of the coins conveyed to a coin accumulating cylinder reaches a predetermined value, and may close the guide passage in response to the output signal corresponding to the nonexistence of the power supply.

Coin handling apparatus

Herein disclosed is a coin handling apparatus which is free from having its coin guide passage from being jammed with coins when the supply of any more coins is to be stopped. The coin handling apparatus is of the type including, as customary, a rotary disc, a guide passage, a conveyor belt and a coin stacking cylinder. The coin handling apparatus is improved to include a rotary stop pin disposed in the guide passage for normally opening the guide passage and for closing the same thereby to block the succeeding coins, a rotary solenoid for controlling the opening and closing operations of the stop pin, a detecting device for detecting the coin, which is to pass therethrough in the guide passage, thereby to generate two outputs, a coin stop control unit for operating a controlled stop signal in accordance with both the outputs of the detecting device and a stop signal, and a drive circuit for driving the rotary solenoid in accordance with the controlled stop signal thereby to effect the closing operation of the rotary stop pin. The detecting device has a pair of photo-sensors for optically detecting the position of the coin just passing therethrough, and a coin detecting unit connected with the photo-sensors for converting the position of the coin into a binary logic level.

Coin handling apparatus having a signal operated blocker

A sensor is positioned adjacent the wrapping rollers of a coin wrapping machine in the passage of the wrapping sheet. The sensor issues a sheet detection signal when the sheet is detected by the sensor. The control device is also provided with sheet feeding rollers for feeding the wrapping sheet along the passage of the wrapping sheet toward the wrapping rollers. The sheet detection signal is used to control the driving of the sheet feeding rollers, and to stop the sheet feeding rollers in response to the sheet detection signal, so as to stop the leading end of the sheet at a position near the sensor. In this way, the wrapping sheet is advanced from a position near the sensor when the wrapping operation is started. When certain conditions associated with the wrapping sheet are detected in the control device, corresponding alarm signals are issued and the coin wrapping machine is stopped.
