An insulated electric wire includes a flat portion and a low-flatness portion along an axial direction x, having elemental wires constituting a conductor and an insulation coating being continuous with one another. An outer shape of the conductor of the flat portion in a cross-section perpendicular to the axial direction x of the insulated electric wire takes a flat shape, and an outer shape of the conductor of the low-flatness portion takes a shape with flatness lower than the flat portion. In each of the cross-sections of the conductor of the flat portion and the low-flatness portion, deformation ratios of the elemental wires from a circle at width directional end parts, which corresponds to regions facing an outer periphery of the conductor at both ends of the flat shape in a width direction, are lower than the deformation ratios of the elemental wires at a center parts of the conductor.

Insulated electric wire and wiring harness

An insulated electric wire includes: an exposed portion and a covered portion including the insulation covering, and further includes a water-stopping portion wherein a water-stopping agent is placed over the exposed portion, and part of the covered portion and is adjacent to the exposed portion. The water-stopping portion continuously has: an inter-elemental-wire filling area filled with the water-stopping agent in gaps between conductor elemental wires; an exposed-portion-outer-circumferential area wherein the water-stopping agent covers an outer circumference of the conductor; and a covered-portion-outer-circumferential area wherein the water-stopping agent covers an outer circumference of the insulation covering. In a subject region that is a part of the exposed-portion-outer-circumferential area and is other than a region closer to the covered-portion-outer-circumferential area with a larger outer diameter due to a thickness of the insulation covering, a difference between a maximum and minimum outer diameter is not greater than 12% of the minimum outer diameter.

Insulated electric wire, wire harness, and insulated electric wire production method

An insulated electric wire with a water-stopping portion, and a wire harness including the insulated electric wire. The insulated electric wire includes a conductor with multiple metal material elemental wires twisted together, and an insulation covering covers an outer circumference of the conductor. The insulated electric wire includes an exposed portion wherein the insulation covering is removed, a covered portion where the insulation covering covers the conductor, the exposed and covered portions are adjacent to each other in a longitudinal axis direction, and a water-stopping portion wherein gaps between the wires in the exposed portion are filled with a water-stopping agent. At least a portion of the water-stopping agent contacting the wires is made of a resin material that cures upon contact. A wire harness includes the insulated electric wire, and electric connections at both ends, each capable of other device connection.

Insulated electric wire and wire harness

A covered electric wire contains a conductor and an insulation covering which covers an outer surface of the conductor. The covered electric wire has a flat portion where a cross section of the conductor intersecting an axial direction of the covered electric wire has a flat shape which has a larger length in a width direction. The insulation covering contains, in the cross section of the flat portion, plane regions which contains, at the surface thereof: a width-directional region along the width direction; and a height-directional region intersecting the width direction. The insulation covering contains a region having a rounded shape having a radius at the junction between the width-directional region and the height-directional region, and the covered electric wire satisfies a relationship of R>t between the radius R and a thickness t of the insulation covering at the plane region. The wire harness contains the covered electric wire.

An insulated electric wire that has a superior water-stopping performance and has a configuration in which, even if water enters the insulated electric wire, the water is unlikely to stay inside the insulated electric wire, and a wire harness containing such an insulated electric wire. An insulated electric wire contains: an exposed portion in which an insulation covering is removed from the outer circumference of a conductor; in which the insulation covering covers the outer circumference of the conductor, and a water-stopping portion that is provided in an area extending from a part of the exposed portion to a part of the first covered portion, and in which gaps between the elemental wires constituting the conductor are filled with a water-stopping agent. A region of the second covered portion is a non-waterproof end that has a void between the elemental wires and/or between the conductor and the insulation covering.

An insulated electric wire includes a conductor in which elemental wires made of a metal material are twisted together; and an insulation covering that covers an outer circumference of the conductor. The insulated electric wire includes: an exposed portion in which the insulation covering is removed from the outer circumference of the conductor; a covered portion in which the insulation covering covers the outer circumference of the conductor, the exposed portion and the covered portion being provided adjacent to each other in a longitudinal axis direction; and a water-stopping portion in which gaps between the elemental wires in the exposed portion are filled with a water-stopping agent. In an area enclosed by the surface of the water-stopping agent, the surface of the elemental wires is in contact with only the water-stopping agent or another elemental wire.

An insulated electric wire contains: an exposed portion insulation covering is removed; a covered portion with the insulation covering; and a water-stopping portion agent is placed over the exposed portion and an area of the covered portion that is adjacent to the exposed portion. The water-stopping portion contains: a filled area between the elemental wires between a conductor in the exposed portion filled with the water-stopping agent; an exposed portion outer circumferential area in which the water-stopping agent covers the outer circumference of the conductor in the exposed portion; and a covered portion outer circumferential area in which the water-stopping agent covers an outer circumference of the insulation covering in the area of the covered portion that is adjacent to the exposed portion. The layer thickness of the water-stopping agent is larger in the exposed portion outer circumferential area than in the covered portion outer circumferential area.

Wire harness and insulated electric wire thereof having water-stopping agent

A wire harness has less differences of the amount of deflection caused by the self weight when the wire harness is constructed by arranging the plurality of the electric wire having the different cross-sectional area of the conductor. A wire harness has first and second electric wires arranged side by side in a direction intersecting an axial direction of the electric wires. Each of the first and second electric wires includes a conductor with a plurality of elemental wires, the second electric wire has a larger conductor cross-sectional area than the first electric wire has, the second electric wire has the larger outer diameter of the elemental wires composing the conductor than the first electric wire has, and the second electric wire contains a same or smaller number of elemental wires composing the conductor in comparison with the first electric wire.

Wire harness

An insulated electric wire includes a conductor comprising twisted elemental wires and an insulation covering. The insulated electric wire includes an exposed portion in which the insulation covering is removed from the outer surface of the conductor, and a covered portion in which the insulation covering covers the outer surface of the conductor. The exposed portion and the covered portion are adjacent with each other along a longitudinal axis of the insulated electric wire. A density of the conductive material per unit length is higher in the exposed portion than in the covered portion. The elemental wires are twisted in both the exposed portion and the covered portion including an area that is positioned away from the exposed portion by at least a distance corresponding to a length of the exposed portion. Gaps between the elemental wires of the exposed portion are filled with a sealant.

Production method for insulated electric wire and insulated electric wire

An electric wire conductor having both flexibility and a space-saving property. Also provided are a covered electric wire and a wiring harness containing the electric wire conductor. An electric wire conductor contains a wire strand containing a plurality of elemental wires twisted together. The electric wire conductor has a flat portion in which a cross section intersecting an axial direction of the wire strand has a flat shape. Assuming a conductor cross-sectional area of the flat portion as s mmand a vacancy ratio defined as a ratio of vacancies not occupied by the elemental wires in a cross section of the flat portion as v %, the conductor cross-sectional area and the vacancy ratio satisfies v&#x3e;0.29 s+2.0. The covered electric wire contains electric wire conductor and an insulator covering the conductor. The wiring harness contains the covered electric wire.

Electric wire conductor, covered electric wire, and wiring harness

A wire harness includes: an electrical wire including a core wire and an insulating covering for covering the core wire; and a sheet material in which the electrical wire is disposed on a resin main surface, and a part of the main surface having contact with the electrical wire is thermally processed with the insulating covering of the electrical wire, thereby forming an electrical wire fixing part. A part of the sheet material including the electrical wire fixing part is softer than the insulating covering.

An insulated electric wire includes a conductor of a plurality of twisted elemental wires made of a conductive material, and an insulation covering. The wire includes an exposed portion in which the insulation covering is removed, and a covered portion in which the insulation covering covers the conductor. The exposed portion and the covered portion are adjacent with each other along a longitudinal axis of the wire. The covered portion includes an adjacent area located adjacent to the exposed portion, and a remote area located adjacent to the adjacent area and apart from the exposed portion. A density of the conductive material per unit length is higher in the exposed portion than in the remote area. The elemental wires are twisted in both the exposed portion and the remote area. Gaps between the elemental wires of the exposed portion are filled with a sealant.
