A solid-state image pickup apparatus having hermetic seal portion capable of packaged in a smaller size by a simple construction and fabricated with high precision at wafer level is constructed such that an epoxy-type resin sheet having opening portion only at light-receiving portion is adhered to solid-state image pickup device chip by an adhesive and a transparent member capable of becoming a flat-plate portion is adhered onto the epoxy-type resin sheet by means of an adhesive.

Solid-state image pickup apparatus and fabricating method thereof

In a solid-state image pickup apparatus including a pixel section having a plurality of arrayed pixels and a scanning circuit for scanning the pixel section, the scanning circuit is constructed as having: a shift register section consisting of cascaded shift register units; a signal select section consisting of a plurality of signal select units arranged in a manner corresponding to the shift register units; and a scan control section for generating scan control signal for controlling the signal select unit. Outputs of the shift register units are selectively provided as scanning signal through the signal select units which are controlled by the scan control signal. Thereby, pixel signals corresponding to a full angle of view can be read out at a rapid frame rate even in the high-definition solid-state image pickup apparatus where the number of pixels is very large.

A two-dimensional rangefinding sensor of the present invention consisting of an illuminating device for projecting light beams, which undergoes luminance modulation at a predetermined frequency for a predetermined duration with a predetermined cycle time, onto an object, an image-formation optical system for forming an image of the object illuminated with light beams which have undergone the luminance modulation and which have been projected from the illuminating device, a two-dimensional image sensor mounted on an image-formation plane of the image-formation optical system, a driving means for performing a modulation driving operation on an electrode terminal, which is operative to determine the sensitivity of the two-dimensional image sensor at the frequency, and a reading means for reading a signal corresponding to a signal charge generated in each of picture elements of the image sensors. Thereby, a range-data image of a three-dimensional object can be obtained by using a two-dimensional image sensor without mechanically scanning with illumination light.

A solid-state imaging device composed of static induction transistors arranged in a matrix-like manner between a plurality of row lines and a plurality of vertical signal lines, drive means for simultaneously reading out during a predetermined readout period the signals stored in the static induction transistors, in accordance with row selection signals to be applied to the row lines, and holding them in drive transistors, and successively reading out the signals thus held within the horizontal scanning period, and means for preventing spurious signals from being generated by the ON operation of those static induction transistors to which the row selection signals are not applied. This construction effectively prevents blooming generation due to the superimposition of signals from non-selected static induction transistors.

A solid-state image pickup apparatus having a plurality of row lines to which a row selection control signal is applied, a plurality of column lines to which a column selection control signal is applied, a plurality of static induction transistors whose source electrodes are connected to the column lines, capacitors which connects the gate electrodes of the static induction transistors to the row lines, column selecting transistors and resetting transistors connected to the column lines, in which, to perform non-destructive readout, the row selection control signal is set to low level when the resetting transistors operate. At the time of non-destructive readout, optical signal charges which have been accumulated in the capacitors are not discharged, so that outputs in accordance with optical signal charges can be read out again.

Solid-state image pickup apparatus using static induction transistors

A solid state image pickup device having a shutter function is disclosed. The device comprises a plurality of picture cells each having a static induction transistor arranged in a matrix. The device further comprises a plurality of gate signal lines for simultaneously supplying gate signals to the picture cells placed on respective rows of the matrix, a vertical scanning register for generating and scanning the gate signals, a plurality of signal readout lines for reading out light signals stored in the picture cells placed on respective columns of the matrix, a shift register for simultaneously and temporarily storing read out signals and converting them into time series signals, a device connected between the signal readout means and the temporary storage means for controlling the connection therebetween.
