A system for monitoring a physical environmental property having non-stationary heteroscedastic noise is disclosed. A processor receives physical environmental measurement data, and constructs a combined input and output noise levels matrix containing output noise terms associated with the physical environmental property and input noise terms associated with the at least one independent variable. Using the combined input and output noise levels matrix, the processor constructs a main Gaussian Processes (GP) model for the physical environmental property and its non-stationary heteroscedastic noise. The processor generates and co-operates with the output device to perceptibly output a predictive probabilistic representation of the environmental property, using the main GP model. The predictive probabilistic representation includes a respective range of possible values of the physical environmental property for each respective value of the independent variable(s), the range reflecting both the input noise terms and the output noise terms.

A computer-based graphical user interface for graphically controlling processing of hydrological data, comprising a display menu interface listing executable tools from the group comprising one or more of: hydrological data input, hydrological data validity checking and correction, and hydrological modeling, a GUI for selecting and arranging tools from the display menu in a graphical display area to construct a hydrological process, the selected tools each being represented by icons on the graphical display, and for establishing a connection between at least one output of a first tool and an input of a second tool said tools by graphically displaying the connection between said tools representative icon and input means for receiving user input to arrange and execute said constructed hydrological data processing process.

System and method for hydrological analysis

The present subject matter relates to methodologies for providing error correction compensation to measurement systems. Data-dependant jitter may be compensated by examining both short-term and long-term bit histories after applying a predetermined synthesized calibration pattern having selected characteristics to the measurement system. Neural networks may be provided to produce error correction signals that may be applied to measured data on a bit-by-bit basis to correct jitter. The synthesized calibration sequence may correspond to a base pattern having two segments; a first segment may correspond to a copy of the base pattern while the second segment may be a copy of the base pattern with some sections inverted.
