A display device where concentration of a stress in a display panel is suppressed, to allow improvement in display quality, reliability and the like. A display device includes a display panel, an adhesive layer and a supporting substrate. The adhesive layer is provided on the display panel. The supporting substrate is made up of a member previously provided with curved surfaces. The display panel is bonded onto the curved surface of the supporting substrate by the adhesive layer. The supporting substrate supports the display panel in a curved form along the curved surface.

Display device and method for manufacturing the same

A surface light source device according to the invention includes a housing having an opening portion on at least one face, an LED light source held by one face of the housing opposing the opening portion, and a light guiding plate arranged at a position so as to cover the opening portion and the LED light source. The light guiding plate includes a recess provided at a position corresponding to the LED light source for storing a part of the LED light source. Surface light source device and display device using the same

A primary object of the present invention is to provide a surface light source device attaining a homogenous luminance distribution on a light emitting surface of a light guiding plate in which a dot light source having a high directivity of emitted light is employed. The device includes: a light guiding plateincluding a plurality of primary holes in such a manner as to locate each dot light sourceinside; and dot printingbeing employed as an auxiliary light source means which diffuses light from the dot light sourceto the position between dot light sourcesbeing adjacent to each other, wherein the dot printingis provided at a base of the light guiding plateand a middle point of the connected dot light sourcesbeing adjacent to each other.

Surface light source device

A surface light source device includes two or more point light sources that are arranged linearly, a light guide plate having an incident surface on which light emitted from each of the point light sources shines, for outputting input light from a front surface thereof, and light diffusing means provided on a back surface of the light guide plate, for diffusing light. The incident surface of the light guide plate is inclined toward a back side.

A surface light source device includes light source driving means for driving light sources on a light emission block basis, a light exit area being sectioned into two or more light emission blocks, light quantity detecting means for detecting light quantities on the basis of output light beams that are led out from the two or more light emission blocks, and drive control means for adjusting emission light quantities of the light sources corresponding to the respective light emission blocks on the basis of light quantities that are detected during lighting periods when only one of the light emission blocks is lit up that are subjected to light quantity detection by the light quantity detecting means.

Display device with light guide plate having antireflection portions on light incident surfaces

Each point light source includes an overhang projecting perpendicularly to a light emitting surface from one side of the light emitting surface, and the overhang has its main surface made in contact with a light outgoing surface of a light guide plate with the light emitting surface facing a light incident surface of the light guide plate. Engagement of the overhang with the light outgoing surface of the light guide plate prevents a displacement of the light emitting surface of the point light source and the light incident surface of the light guide plate even when the light guide plate suffers from deformation such as warpage. Even if a displacement occurs, the presence of the overhang reflects leaked light to guide it to the light incident surface of the light guide plate.

Flat light source

A planar light source device includes a light source section having a plurality of light emitting diodes as a light source, and a light guiding plate guiding light from the light source section to emit planar light. The light emitting diodes being turned off detect the quantities of light from the other light emitting diodes, and adjust the quantities of light emission of the other light emitting diodes based on the detected quantities of light.

The present invention aims to provide a plane light source device having enhanced efficiency of use of light and high brightness uniformity. A plane light source device of the present invention is provided with a housing having an opening section, a scattering plate arranged at the opening section for scattering incoming light and a light source arranged at one side face in the housing, wherein a regular reflection section for regularly reflecting light incoming from the light source is provided in the vicinity of the light source at the bottom surface of the housing that is opposite to the scattering plate and a scatter reflection section for irregularly reflecting light incoming from the light source is provided so as to be adjacent to the regular reflection section.

Planar light source device and display device using the same device

In a planar light guiding device and a display device, plural light guiding rods are arranged in parallel to one another in a housing having an opening portion serving as a light emission face at the upper surface thereof, and a point light source (LED)is disposed so as to oppose to at least one of both the end facesof each light guiding rod through a space, thereby constituting a light source unit. Planar light source apparatus and liquid display apparatus

The liquid crystal display device has red, green, and blue LEDs, each emitting a different color light, as a light source. An acrylic lens is mounted on the emission surface of the LED to change angular distributions of light from the LED. The shape of the acrylic lens varies depending on the color of the LED. The angular distribution of emitting light thereby differs by the color of LED to cancel out wavelength dependency of transmittance at each viewing direction in a liquid crystal panel.
