According to one embodiment, a printer includes a printing unit that prints on a strip of sheet, and a cutter unit that cuts and discharges the sheet on the downstream side of the printing unit. The cutter unit includes an elastic film that is positioned below a sheet discharge port discharging the sheet, is provided to protrude downstream in the sheet discharge direction, and touches a lower surface of the sheet with its leading end portion to support the sheet.

According to one embodiment, the label printer includes a light irradiation unit that irradiates an area illuminated by external light where a label on which printing is completed exists with light, a light irradiation control unit that switches between light irradiation and non-irradiation by the light irradiation unit, a light receiving unit that acquires an optical signal from the area where the label on which printing is completed exists in synchronization with the light irradiation and non-irradiation by the light irradiation control unit, and a label presence or absence determination unit that determines the presence or absence of a label based on a first signal acquired by the light-receiving unit if the light irradiation unit is not emitting light and a second signal acquired by the light receiving unit if the light irradiation unit is emitting light.

Printer device

A thermal printing apparatus includes a thermal head having a plurality of heating elements arranged in a line. The thermal printing apparatus may further includes a control unit configured to determine conduction times of the heating elements based on print rates respectively assigned to the plurality of heating elements. The control unit may be further configured to compensate each of the determined conduction times based on the conduction times of the heating elements other than the respective heating element to determine a plurality of compensated conduction times. The control unit may control each of the plurality of heating elements based on the respective one of the plurality of compensated conduction times to enable the thermal head to perform printing on a recording medium.

Thermal printing apparatus and control method thereof

A thermal printer unit according to the invention includes a thermal head, a platen roller which is disposed while facing the thermal head, a support member which fixes the thermal head while thermal transfer ribbon and receptor paper are pressurized and nipped between the thermal head and the platen roller, a conveyance mechanism which conveys the thermal transfer ribbon and the receptor paper using the thermal head and the platen roller, an engaging groove which prevents the thermal head from moving in a paper conveyance direction by the support member, and a retaining portion which prevents the thermal head from moving in a rotating direction, the movement of the thermal head in the rotating direction being generated according to rotation of the platen roller.

A single mode laser beam output from a single mode semiconductor laser and a multimode laser beam output from a multimode semiconductor laser are combined with each other by a polarization beam splitter, the combined laser beam is used by a deflection scanning mechanism to perform main scanning, and an image of the combined laser beam is formed on a surface of a thermal recording medium by a scanning lens.

Contactless optical writing apparatus

A multicolor thermosensitive recording medium having thermosensitive coloring layers which are formed by printing water-dispersion thermosensitive inks or water-dispersion inks on an ink receptive layer using a printing plate. The recording medium comprises an ink receptive layer formed on a surface of a substrate, thermosensitive coloring layers developing different colors, which are integrated with the ink receptive layer by impregnating the ink receptive layer with a water-dispersion thermosensitive ink that is prepared by dispersing in water a pigment component including at least an electron-accepting compound and electron-donating compound. The color density and coloring sensitivity of the thermosensitive coloring layers have been improved by providing over the thermosensitive coloring layers an auxiliary coloring layer containing at least one of an electron-accepting compound and a sensitizer.

Thermosensitive recording medium and method of manufacturing the same

A document sheet issuing system suitable for manufacturing a product based on an ordering by a retailer issues a plurality of documents, e.g., guarantee card, user registration card, on which data including a name of retailer is printed during manufacturing. The issued documents are attached to a carton box in which manufactured product is packed before the product is delivered to thereby reduce troublesome operation by the retailer. The system uses a laminated medium including a lower document sheet and an upper document sheet peelably laminated on the lower sheet. A first data is printed firstly on the lower sheet through the upper sheet and a second data different from the first data is then printed on the upper sheet.

A scratch card printer has a conveying section to convey a card, for example, by a plurality of conveying roller pairs, a first printing mechanism to have a thermal head, printing control means to control a printing head of the first printing mechanism to allow information, to be printed on a card, a second printing mechanism configured to have a thermal head located more on a downstream side in a direction of conveying of the card by the conveying section than the first printing mechanism, and a thermal transfer control section which, in order to cover the information printed by the first printing mechanism, controls the thermal head of the second printing mechanism to allow an ink to be transferred to the card from a thermal transfer ribbon for concealment.

A temperature indicating material of the present invention includes at least an electron donating compound, an electron accepting compound, a reversible material causing reversible transformation between crystal and amorphous states, or reversible transformation between phase separation and non-phase-separation, with respect to a part or all of the composition system; and a temperature characteristic controller having a solid-state in room temperature and at least a part of the temperature characteristic controller dissolves in the electron accepting compound, the reversible material, or the electron accepting compound and the reversible material so as to change the speed of the reversible transformation between crystal and amorphous, or speed of the reversible transformation between phase separation and non-phase-separation, with respect to the composition system, by its reversible transformation between crystal and amorphous states, or the speed of the reversible transformation between phase separation and non-phase separation.

Temperature indicating material

A product label in which a heat sensitive recording layer and a heat sensitive color forming layer for printing goods information are laminated on a substrate, the heat sensitive recording layer and the heat sensitive color forming layer form colors different from each other and the heat sensitive color forming layer forming an emphasis area. Partial disposition of the heat sensitive color forming layer for the emphasis area can provide a product label of inexpansive material cost and capable of heat sensitive recording for two or more colors with no color mixing under simple control.

In the present invention, a temperature indicating material is prepared by incorporating, in a rewritable base system which comprises an electron donating compound, an electron accepting compound and a reversal material and undergoes color changes with temperature and time, a thermochromism controller which changes a rate of crystal to amorphous or phase-separation to non-phase-separation rate. Upon color changes with an environmental temperature, the thermochromism controller undergoes crystallization or phase separation to have a function as a place for reaction and contributes to the color changes of the temperature indicating material. The incorporation of the thermochromism controller therefore makes it possible to impart the resulting temperature indicating material with improved sensitivity to temperature at around an environmental temperature and a high S/N ratio.

Temperature control is carried out with a temperature control material comprising a temperature indicator whose developed color density differs according to temperature, which is irreversible at environmental temperature, which changes its color according to crystal or non-crystal, or phase separation or non-phase separation, and whose glass transition temperature is set to a temperature higher than control temperature, by irradiating the temperature indicator with light having a wavelength absorbed by a color developed by the temperature indicator and detecting the intensity of the reflected light or transmitted light. Accordingly, even when the temperature becomes higher than control temperature temporarily, temperature control can be carried out smoothly thereafter.

Temperature control material and temperature control method using the same

Disclosed herein is an image printing method whereby a line head of a line printer performs line emission a plurality of times to print one primary scanning line. The number of times light is emitted by each edge emission type EL device corresponding to each pixel of one primary scanning line is controlled according to print density information contained in an input print signal. A plurality of flat pixel components are generated lengthwise and crosswise to form an approximately square pixel. This pixel is printed a plurality of times lengthwise and crosswise to form an image. The edges of the image are filled with suitably positioned pixels that have some of their components selectively left blank for visually smoothing effects.

Image printing method for edge emission type EL printer

An edge emission type EL printer having a line head constituted by an array of numerous edge emission type EL devices. One group of electrodes for the EL devices receive driving pulses from a first driver means, and the other group thereof get driving pulses from a second driver means as per emission control signals. This allows the EL devices to selectively luminesce, forming an electrostatic latent image on the circumference surface of a photosensitive body charged by a charger. The image is developed by a developer and transferred to a recording medium by a transfer machine. The emission control signals entering the line head are monitored so that when the absence of EL devices luminescing within one primary scanning line is detected from the monitoring, a driving pulse stopping means is activated to stop accordingly the driving pulses continuously applied to the EL devices by the first driver means.

Edge emission type electroluminescent (EL) printer

The present invention, in a photoelectric conversion device including a sensor portion and a thin film transistor portion for the purpose of switching disposed on the same substrate, is manufactured by, first, forming gate electrodes for a thin film transistor portion on the surface of the substrate by a thin film technique, and then, depositing an insulating film, an a-Si film, and electrodes on the insulating substrate so as to be laminated to one after another and commonly covering the sensor portion and the thin film transistor portion, whereby the sensor portion and the thin film transistor portion are enabled to be provided in one series of processing while the device is put in a vacuum chamber.
