The invention provides a discharge gas treatment catalyst which can effectively decreases NOand SOcontained in a discharge gas. The discharge gas treatment catalyst, for removing nitrogen oxide and sulfur trioxide from a discharge gas, includes a carrier which is formed of titania-tungsten oxide and which carries ruthenium, and a titania-tungsten oxide-based NOremoval catalyst serving as a substrate which is coated with the carrier. When a discharge gas to which ammonia has been added and which contains SOand NOis brought into contact with the catalyst, decomposition of ammonia is suppressed by ruthenium, and reduction of SOand NOcontained in the discharge gas is promoted, whereby SOconcentration and NOconcentration can be further decreased.

Discharge gas treatment catalyst

A catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas containing carbon monoxide and volatile organic compounds, which has a coat layer of a carrier composed of a porous inorganic compound, wherein the coat layer is a single layer, the porous inorganic compound has a BET specific surface area of 50 m/g or greater, and the coat layer has, within a 50 &#x3bc;m depth from the surface thereof, an active metal having a particle size of 15 nm or less and composed of at least one noble metal.

In the NHinjection rate control method for an NOremoval apparatus, operating area of the apparatus is divided into first area in which molar ratio of NHinjection rate with respect to NOflow rate at an inlet of the apparatus is smaller than molar ratio at minimum point where NOconcentration assumes minimum value and second area in which the molar ratio is equal to or larger than the minimum point molar ratio, and virtual NOconcentration with respect to the molar ratio is set according to virtual characteristic line which varies monotonically to stride across desired operating point without rising with increase of the molar ratio from the first area to the second area. Moreover, feedback control is implemented for adjusting the NHinjection rate with respect to the NOflow rate in direction that the virtual NOconcentration is brought close to the desired NOconcentration.
