An image forming apparatus which includes: a job storage unit for storing a plurality of print jobs; an image forming unit for executing the print jobs stored in the job storage unit; and a job managing unit for managing an execution order of the print jobs performed by the image forming unit. The job managing unit includes: priority job managing portion which, during execution of a specific print job carried out according to an execution order set in advance, manages the image forming unit to suspend the specific print job and preferentially to execute another print job; and job continuation judging portion which, when completing a priority print job that is executed by the priority job managing portion, judges whether or not to continue execution of the specific print job based on a job execution state of the specific print job that is being executed when starting the priority print job.

Image forming apparatus with job interruption handling

A fixation control device is provided which controls the operation of a fixing unit having a heat roller and a press roller between which a sheet is passed. When copies are successively made on a plurality of narrow-size sheets, the temperature of the end portions of the press roller rises and, therefore, the difference between the temperatures of the end portions and the central portion of the press roller becomes greater. The greater temperature difference results in a diameter difference between the central portion and the end portions of the press roller due to thermal expansion, thereby reducing sheet transportation ability of the heat roller and press roller. However, the fixation control device of the present invention can compensate the reduction in the transportation ability by increasing the rotational speed of the heat roller and press roller when the temperature difference becomes greater.

Fixation control device

A fixation temperature control device is to be applied to a copying machine or the like. A control section determines a heat roller control temperature in consideration of a detected press roller temperature. When the heat roller temperature is lower than a reference temperature, a correction value is added to a heat roller reference temperature to set the heat roller control temperature higher than usual. When a fixing unit is in a stand-by status and the press roller temperature is in a temperature range between 80.degree. C. and 90.degree. C., a heat roller and a press roller are preferably rotated at a speed lower than a usual rotational speed.

Fixation temperature control device

In a sorter controller in which a plurality of sheets fed from the copying machine are separately placed in a plurality of sort bins, the preset copy number is inputted by the operation of an operation panel provided on the copying machine, and a number m of groups of sheets to be placed in a sort bin is calculated by m=INT(N/n), where INT represents a function for obtaining the integer of the number in the parenthesis and N represents the number of sheets that can be placed in a sort bin. When m.gtoreq.2, the sort bin in which the copied sheets are placed is changed every time n.times.m sheets are placed in a sort bin. According to such feature, the copied sheets of an original never be separately placed in a plurality of sort bins, and further, the available sort bins are effectively used.

The present invention relates to a display for image forming apparatus to enable indication of the number of processing sheets and also indication of impossible paper feeding on the paper feed pass on one display by time-sharing at different times, and particularly concerning the point that indication of disabled paper feeding and indication of the above mentioned number of processing sheets are made alternatively when the indication of disabled paper feeding is given by providing a paper sensing switch in the paper supplying mechanism.
