A screen printer includes: a substrate holder that holds a substrate; a mask to be contacted with the substrate; an imaging device that images the substrate; an elevation mechanism that moves up the substrate holder at a below-mask-position below the mask based on a result of the imaging to contact the substrate with the mask; a horizontal moving mechanism that moves the substrate holder between the below-mask-position and a retreat position retreated in a horizontal direction from the below-mask-position; a printing head that moves on the mask contacted with the substrate and prints a paste on the substrate via the mask; and a mask cleaner that cleans a lower surface of the mask with the substrate separated from the mask by the elevation mechanism. The imaging of the substrate and the cleaning of the mask are performed with the substrate holder positioned at the retreat position.

A component mounting line has a screen printing apparatus and component mounting apparatuses. Each component mounting apparatus includes a first substrate carrying lane and a second substrate carrying lane, carries a first type substrate on which a first pattern has been printed in the first substrate carrying lane, performs a component mounting-relevant operation on the first type substrate, carries a second type substrate on which a second pattern has been printed in the second substrate carrying lane, and performs a component mounting-relevant operation on the second type substrate. The screen printing apparatus selects a type of the substrate to be carried in depending on whether a substrate is carried in the second component mounting apparatus downstream from the screen printing apparatus.

A component mounting line has a screen printing apparatus and component mounting apparatuses. A printing screen cleaning apparatus and a method for cleaning a printing screen by employing the cleaning apparatus which includes a cleaning head having a wiping member and a backup member for sucking the paste via a wiping member while sliding the wiping member on a lower surface of the printing screen. The backup member includes a suction port provided in a suction region of a backup surface of the backup member. The backup member also has a groove that extends parallel to the suction region and approximately perpendicular to the sliding direction of the wiping member. The groove partially releases the backup of the wiping member.

Printing screen cleaning method and apparatus
