A uniform coupling comprises a torque transmitting unit; first and second shafts that are connected through the torque transmitting unit; a boot covering the torque transmitting unit and having a first end connected to the first shaft and a second end connected to the second shaft, the second end being formed into a cylindrical wall that is tightly disposed on a cylindrical portion of the second shaft and has an axially leading end; a boot cover disposed on the cylindrical portion of the second shaft to cover the cylindrical wall leaving an annular space therebetween, the boot cover having an inside end surface that contacts the axially leading end of the cylindrical wall; and an air bleeding passage that communicates the inside of the boot with the outside of the same. The air bleeding passage includes a groove formed in an inner surface of the cylindrical wall and a passage that is defined between the axially leading end of the cylindrical wall and the inside end surface of the boot cover.

A power train includes a driving shaft and a follower shaft connecting to the driving shaft by way of a first joint. The follower shaft is adapted to slide relative to the driving shaft in an axial direction. The follower shaft includes: a holder shaped substantially into a cylinder, and a tubular shaft section coupled with the holder in the axial direction. The first joint includes a member defining an outer diameter. The holder holds therein the member of the first joint. The tubular shaft section coupled with the holder in the axial direction causes an inner curl to a second joint coupling the holder and the tubular shaft section. The inner curl defines an inner diameter greater than the outer diameter of the member of the first joint.

Power train

A shock-absorbing mechanism for a power-transmission device includes a cylindrical driven-side shaft coupled to the driving-side shaft through a constant-velocity joint to be axially relatively slidable with respect to the driving-side shaft, a center bearing for rotatably supporting the driving-side shaft to the vehicle body, and a labyrinth mechanism for sealing the inside of the center bearing. An end of the driven-side shaft on the side of the driving-side shaft is disposed axially opposite to the labyrinth mechanism. When the two shafts are slid in the direction to approach each other by an axial load input thereto, the end of the driven-side shaft collides axially with the labyrinth mechanism.

Shock-absorbing mechanism for power-transmission device

An impact-absorbable power transmission device is constituted by establishing a frictional spline connection between a shaft and a pipe to allow an axial slide therebetween and to forbid a relative rotation therebetween. An inner race of a universal joint is fixed to another end portion of the shaft by press-fitting. A flange for receiving a press-fitting force of the inner race is formed at an intermediate portion of the shaft. Therefore, the power transmission device ensures an impact absorbing performance while avoiding a lowering of a mechanical strength caused by the inner race installing operation.

Impact-absorbable power transmission device

A power transmission device with impact absorbing potential includes a shaft, a tube engaged with said shaft, a spline joint for interconnecting the shaft and the tube, and a breakable pin arranged through through holes of the shaft and the tube. A tube is mounted at an end of the tube to conceal the through hole of the tube.
