A sewing machine includes a needle bar to which a sewing needle is attached, a needle bar up-and-down motion mechanism moving the needle bar up and down and a cutting unit including a cutting needle having a distal end formed with a blade and a cutting needle up-and-down motion mechanism which is independent of the needle bar up-and-down motion mechanism and moves the cutting needle up and down. The cutting unit is located on a sewing machine bed with the blade being directed upward.

Sewing machine

A sewing machine includes a sewing machine motor configured to generate drive power to drive a needle bar up-and-down motion mechanism and a cutting unit. The cutting unit includes a cutting needle having a distal end with a blade, and a cutting needle up-and-down motion mechanism having a first motor separate from a sewing machine motor and configured to generate drive power to move the cutting needle independently of the needle bar up-and-down motion mechanism. A cut is formed by the blade as a result of up-and-down motion of the cutting needle while the cutting needle is held in a manner such that an extending direction of the cutting needle corresponds with an extending direction of the needle bar. The cutting unit further includes a cutting needle rotating mechanism configured to rotate the cutting needle about a central axis line of the cutting needle directed to the extending direction.

A sewing machine includes a needle bar, a needle bar up-and-down movement mechanism, a swinging mechanism, a lower shaft, an outer shuttle, a thread cutting mechanism, a rotation speed adjustment mechanism, and an actuator. The needle bar up-and-down movement mechanism is configured to move the needle bar up and down. The swinging mechanism is configured to swing the needle bar in a left-right direction. The lower shaft is configured to rotate in synchronization with up-down movement of the needle bar. The outer shuttle is configured to rotate along with rotation of the lower shaft. The thread cutting mechanism is configured to cut at least an upper thread. The rotation speed adjustment mechanism is configured to adjust a rotation speed of the outer shuttle. The actuator is a driving source of the thread cutting mechanism and the rotation speed adjustment mechanism.

Presser foot with (LED) pointer

A sewing apparatus includes a hollow needle that can pass through a work cloth, and a needle cover that has a passing hole through which the needle passes and holds the work cloth. The needle cover functions as a presser foot and holds at least a part of a thread between a previous stitch point where a stitch has been previously made and a succeeding stitch point where a stitch is to be currently made. Accordingly, sewing can be performed on the workpiece without use of a lower thread.

Sewing apparatus and sewing cartridge

A sewing apparatus includes a thread cutting mechanism that cuts a thread connected to a work cloth. In response to an operation of an operating member and detachment of a sewing cartridge from a sewing apparatus body, the thread cutting mechanism is actuated. The thread cutting mechanism includes a thread cutting lever, a link mechanism, cutting blades, and an engagement mechanism.

Sewing apparatus

A sewing apparatus performs sewing operation on a work piece that moves along an X-Y plane perpendicular to an axial direction of a hollow needle having an inclined opening that is formed by angular cutting a portion of an end portion of the hollow needle that penetrates the work piece with respect to the axial direction of the hollow needle, by reciprocating the hollow needle in a penetrating direction, using a thread threaded in the hollow needle. In the sewing apparatus, Tatami stitches are formed on the work cloth with a plurality of stitches. First, a plurality of stitches are formed in a first stitching direction along a line angled between 20&deg; and 160&deg; with respect to a needle tip opening direction. Then, by controlling direction of movement of the work cloth so that the stitches in a second stitching direction proceed to an area opposite to the needle tip opening direction, a plurality of stitches are formed in a second stitching direction opposite to the first stitching direction, following and in parallel with the stitches formed in the first stitching direction.

Sewing apparatus and sewing method

A sewing cartridge includes a cassette body, a hollow needle that can pass through a work cloth, a spool around which a thread to be supplied to the hollow needle is wound, a needle cover that covers at least a tip of the hollow needle, and a coil compression spring that urges the needle cover to a cover position where the needle cover covers the hollow needle.

Sewing cartridge

An engaging pin, protruding in a front and rear direction of a sewing apparatus from an end portion of a swing arm, includes a shaft portion and a head portion provided at a free end of the shaft portion. A U-shaped engagement groove is formed at one end portion of a periphery of a housing case of a sewing cartridge, and is attached to and detached from the engaging pin provided in the sewing apparatus. The engagement groove includes a narrow groove portion, which engages the shaft portion, and a wide recessed portion, which engages the head portion. The narrow groove portion and the wide recessed portion are connectedly provided each other. The narrow groove portion includes connecting portions. The connecting portions are inclined so that an opening of the engagement groove becomes wider toward a periphery of the housing case.

Thread cassette for an embroidery machine

A sewing cartridge includes a housing case and an openable cover. The housing case has a housing area for accommodating a thread therein, and the openable cover has a thread holding mechanism for holding the thread supplied from the housing area. In the sewing cartridge, the housing case is movable with respect to the openable cover. While the thread supplied from the housing area is hold, the sewing cartridge is attached to a sewing apparatus. In this state, when the housing case is moved up and down with respect to the openable cover, a predetermined length of the thread can be drawn from the housing area while the thread holding mechanism holds the thread with an adequate holding strength.
