A capacitance detection device of a capacitance system includes: a capacitance sensor electrode for detecting a capacitance; a power source for supplying charges to be charged in the capacitance sensor electrode; an electric charge storage capacitor in which an amount of charges to be charged therein changes according to the electric charges charged in the capacitance sensor electrode; and a switch for changing a reference potential of the electric charge storage capacitor. The reference potential of the electric charge storage capacitor is changed in a period of measuring the capacitance.

Coordinate input device and display device with the same

Provided is a touch-panel device capable of detecting a touched position with high accuracy even when a touched area extends off an electrode area. In one embodiment, the touched area is assumed to be, for example, circular in shape. A width in an X direction (overlap width) and a width in a Y direction (overlap width) of an overlap area where the touched area in a circular shape and an electrode area overlap each other is determined based on sensor measured values. When the overlap width and the overlap width are different from each other, it is judged that the touched area extends off the electrode area, and a position of a center of the touched area in the circular shape is calculated as the touched position.

Touch-panel device

A static capacitance type touch panel, a control unit electrically connected with X and Y electrodes for detecting a touch position based on a measured value of a static capacitance between the X and Y electrodes. The control unit includes a predetermined touch threshold for detecting a peak, a near-peak range and a non-near-peak range, a first parameter for determining a value of the near peak range, and a second parameter for determining a value of the non-near-peak range. The first and second parameters are respectively predetermined for reduction of a noise influence from the measured value of the static capacitance between the X electrode and the Y electrode.

Touched position detection method for touch panel

A sensor apparatus for detecting contact or proximity of an object includes a calculation section for separating a plurality of points of the contact or the proximity that are generated simultaneously, and calculating individual sets of positional coordinates, and the calculation section includes an analysis section for determining, based on a spatial distribution of signal intensity obtained through detection, a condition for separating the spatial distribution of the signal intensity into a plurality of regions.

Sensoring apparatus of proximity and contact, and display devices

Provided is a capacitance coupling type on-screen input image display device that enables multipoint detection in a short period of time. The on-screen input image display device includes: a detection circuit () for detecting a change in capacitance between the plurality of X coordinate electrodes and the plurality of Y coordinate electrodes of the touch sensor (); a touch panel control circuit () for determining a touched coordinate point; and a main control circuit () for receiving touch coordinate data from the touch panel control circuit (). The main control circuit () judges occurrence of a user's touch and coordinates of the occurrence from the touch coordinate data, and supplies a display signal corresponding to the judged coordinates to the display device () via the display control circuit (), whereby the display signal is reflected on the display.

Method for determining multiple touch points by pairing detected electrodes during a second touch sensing period

A TFT element for ambient light detection and a TFT element for temperature detection are connected in series. In a first period, a first switch element is off, and a second switch element is at a hi side, so that a threshold voltage of the TFT element for temperature detection is detected. In a second period, a first switch element is on, and a second switch element is at a low side, so that temperature is detected. In a third period, a first switch element is on, and a second switch element is at a hi side, so that ambient light is detected. An input voltage and a control voltage to each of the TFT elements are set by a voltage controller provided in a drive circuit based on the threshold voltage.

Display device

In a touched position detection method for a touch panel for detecting a touched position, based on measured values by a plurality of sensors, presence of a touch is determined when a measured value by a sensor exceeds a touch threshold. As a touch threshold, a value which cannot be attained due to a mere noise but can due to presence of a touch is set. With respect to sensors located in the vicinity of a sensor showing a high measured value, a higher weighted value is applied to modify a measured value in a touched position calculation process than that to be applied to other sensors.

The display device is provided with X electrodes XP and Y electrodes YP which cross with a first insulating layer in between and a number of Z electrodes which are electrically floating from each other with a second insulating layer in between. The Z electrodes are arranged so that each Z electrode overlaps both an adjacent X electrode and Y electrode. The pad portion of a first X electrode has such a form that the area is maximum in the vicinity of the fine wire portion of the first X electrode and the area is minimum in the vicinity of the fine wire portion of an adjacent second X electrode, and the area of the pad portion is smaller towards the direction in which the distance increases away from the vicinity of the fine wire portion of the first X electrode. A pulse signal is sequentially applied to one set of X electrodes or Y electrodes.

A detection resolution is improved in a display device that employs an electrostatic capacity coupling type touch panel provided with a transparent conductive film serving as a detection film. A plurality of electrode terminals () is provided such that at least three electrode terminals () are aligned in each side of a detection transparent conductive film (). A touch panel control circuit is provided for selecting one of two to four numbers of electrode terminals from among the plurality of electrode terminals () of the detection transparent conductive film (), applying an AC signal provided from a signal source () through a current detection resistor (r) (), and then detecting a current that flows through each of the selected electrode terminals.

On-screen input image display system

Tonal data of one frame of a video signal is subject to time division into dark subframe tonal data at a low tone and bright subframe tonal data at a high tone to compensate for a lowered luminance in the dark subframe by the bright subframe so as not to change an integrated luminance per one ordinary frame. Subframe tonal data read from a memory is converted into output tonal data constituted of dark subframe tonal data at a low tone and bright subframe tonal data at a high tone, by four arithmetic calculation operations using calculation parameters supplied from a register.

A data driver circuit is divided into a low potential region, an intermediate potential region, and a high potential region, and relative withstand voltages in the respective regions are set equal to each other. Both of the transmission of a power source voltage to the high potential region from the low potential region and the transmission of video signals are performed via the intermediate potential region. Due to such a constitution, the withstand voltages in the respective regions can be suppressed to low values.

A synchronization compensating circuit for use in a scanning type display circuit, comprises a first multistage delay circuit receiving a basic clock for generating K delayed clocks, a second multistage delay circuit receiving an output of the first multistage delay circuit for generating L delayed clocks, and a timing signal generating circuit receiving a horizontal synchronization signal for generating a latch signal. A first selection signal generation circuit latches a first phase of the basic clock and the K delayed clocks in response to the latch signal, and a second selection signal generation circuit latches a second phase of the basic clock and the K delayed clocks in response to the latch signal. A third selection signal generation circuit latches the L delayed clocks in response to the latch signal. Each of the first to third selection signal generation circuit generates a selection signal corresponding to a received clock fulfilling a predetermined condition. A selection circuit receives the basic clock and the K and L delayed clocks for outputting a delayed clock corresponding to the selection signal outputted from the first signal generation circuit in preference to the selection signal from the second and third selection signal generation circuits, and a delayed clock corresponding to the selection signal outputted from the second selection signal generation circuit in preference to the selection signal from the third selection signal generation circuit when the selection signal is not outputted from the first selection signal generation circuit.

Synchronization compensating circuit for use in scanning type display

For allowing a port to serve as not only one of the system clock input port but also a data input/output port, there is disclosed a data processing unit comprising a system clock supplying circuit operative in an internal oscillation mode or a transmission mode depending upon a mode selecting signal, a shifting circuit operative to provide an electrical path between two ports and the system clock supplying circuit in the internal oscillation mode but to provide another electrical path between one of the two ports and a data input/output line in the transmission mode, so that one of the ports serves between the clock input port and the data input/output port depending upon the mode selecting signal.
