A vane pump includes a rotor accommodated in a rotor chamber; a plurality of vanes attached to the rotor, each of the vanes having a leading end adapted to make sliding make a contact with an inner peripheral surface of the rotor chamber. Further, the vane pump includes working compartments surrounded by inner surfaces of the rotor chamber, an outer peripheral surface of the rotor and the vanes, the working compartments being adapted to undergo a volume change as the rotor is rotatably driven; an inlet port through which a working fluid is drawn into a working compartment whose volume is being increased; and an outlet port through which the working fluid is discharged from a working compartment whose volume is being decreased; and one or more blade base members protruded from portions on the outer peripheral surface of the rotor between the vanes adjacent to each other.

A cooling device has a closed circulating channel for circulating coolant, and in the channel, a radiator and a contact-heat-exchanger type centrifugal pump are provided. A heat-producing electronic component contacts with the centrifugal pump, and the coolant in the pump collects the heat off the component due to the heat exchanging function. Then the heat is dissipated from the radiator. The pump includes a pump-casing made of highly heat conductive material and an impeller. The pump casing has a base wall and a cover wall opposite the base wall. The base wall has an outer wall face constituting a heat-receiving face, and an inner wall face facing the impeller. The impeller is disposed in a pump room defined between the base wall and cover wall of the casing. A sucking channel is provided between the heat-receiving face and an inner wall face of the pump room. This inner wall has a recess where protrusions extending toward the impeller or dimples are provided.

Cooling device and centrifugal pump to be used in the same device

A cooling device for cooling a heat-generating component includes a circulating passage arranged to have coolant circulate therein, a centrifugal pump including a first case made of metallic material, a second case made of resin material, and an impeller accommodated in the pump chamber, and a radiator provided at the circulating passage and being operable to release heat from the coolant. The first case has a surface arranged to contact the heat-generating component. The second case forms a pump chamber between the first case and the second case. The pump chamber stores the coolant therein. The impeller includes open-type vanes arranged to pressurize the coolant as to have the coolant flow through the circulating passage. The cooling device has a high cooling efficiency as well as a high operating efficiency of the motor while having a simple construction and a small overall size and a small thickness.

Cooling device and an electronic apparatus including the same

A pump for circulating a coolant has a housing thereof in direct thermal connection with an electronic component. This provides both the improvement of cooling efficiency of a cooling device and the realization of a compact, slim design of the device.
