Unevenness due to the influence of a mesh when a sealing material for bonding a TFT substrate and a counter substrate together is formed on the counter substrate by screen printing is prevented. Light shielding films are extended in the horizontal direction and arranged in the vertical direction. Red color filters, blue color filters, and green color filters are extended in the vertical direction at predetermined intervals. The blue color filters are extended also in the horizontal direction so as to cover the light shielding films. In a cross section along the red color filter and the green color filter, the level of a portion above the light shielding film is higher compared with that of the other portion by the thicknesses of the blue color filter and the light shielding film. In screen printing, since the high portion serves as a stopper for the mesh, the occurrence of unevenness due to the mesh can be prevented.

Liquid crystal display device with layers of different color filters covering light shielding films

Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device that is capable of preventing a conductive paste for connecting a common wiring line of a TFT substrate and a counter electrode of a counter substrate from flowing outward. A sealant is formed outside a display region of a liquid crystal display device. A conductive paste for connecting a common wiring line of a TFT substrate and a counter electrode of a counter substrate is provided at a corner of the liquid crystal display device outside the sealant. An L-shaped stopper is formed on the counter substrate so as to prevent the conductive paste from flowing outward. With the stopper, even if the width of a frame is equal to or less than 1.5 mm, it is possible to prevent the conductive paste from flowing outward.

Liquid crystal display device

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device with a narrow picture frame which reduces a sealing defect by suppressing spreading of an orientation film. In a region inside a sealing material and outside a display region, an uneven surface for suppressing spreading of the orientation film is formed. It is preferable that the uneven surface is formed using an insulation film and, at the same time, an etching stopper layer is formed below the insulation film which forms the uneven surface. It is more preferable that the uneven surface and the stopper layer are simultaneously formed with a layer used for forming pixels in a step for forming such a layer thus preventing the increase of manufacturing steps.

Glass substrates interposed by unhardened thermosetting sealing material is surrounded by two sheets. The space between the sheets is placed in a roughly sealed state and decompressed to produce at least a partial vacuum between the sheets. The sheets serve to press the glass substrates against the sealing material by the pressure difference relative to the atmospheric pressure. One or more heaters spaced apart from the sheets heat the glass substrates and the sealing material, setting the sealing material.

Liquid crystal display device and method for making

The invention provides a high quality liquid crystal panel with low non-uniformity by enveloping a pair of glass substrates sandwiching an uncured thermosetting seal member with heat-resistant metal sheets, bringing the insides of the sheets into a substantially hermetically closed state to decompress the space around the substrates, pressing the glass substrates and the seal member by a pressure difference from the atmospheric pressure in a predetermined space created by the enveloping sheets, heating the sheets, the glass substrates and the seal member with a heater disposed at a position remote from the sheet and curing the seal member, and maintaining the gap between the pair of glass substrates to prevent non-uniformity of the gap between the pair of glass substrates constituting the liquid crystal panel.

Method for manufacturing liquid crystal display panels

A thin film transistor structure for use in driving liquid crystal display elements has a semiconductor active layer, a control electrode layer underlying the active layer with an insulating layer interposed therebetween and first and second main electrode layers formed on or above the active layer in a spaced relation with each other to define a channel in the active layer in cooperation with the control electrode layer between the main electrode layers. The active layer has a first peripheral edge portion generally perpendicular to the direction of the channel and a second peripheral edge portion generally not perpendicular to the direction of the channel. The first and/or second main electrode layer extends over the first and/or second peripheral edge portion of the active layer such that at least a part of the first peripheral edge portion and/or at least part of the second peripheral edge portion of the active layer has its side face directly covered with the main electrode layer.

A liquid crystal display device is produced by effecting in the course of its production steps a resist-peeling method including the steps of (a) changing the quality of a resist layer on a substrate, (b) contacting the changed resist with a liquid containing 2-amino-1-ethanol, and (c) removing the liquid containing the thus peeled resist from the surface of the etched resist, and optionally, (d) regenerating a liquid containing 2-amino-1-ethanol by distillation from the liquid used in step (c) and reusing the regenerated liquid in step (b).

Process for stripping photoresist while producing liquid crystal display

A resist is peeled without leaving a residue after peeling, by bringing a resist-peeling liquid comprising a primary aliphatic amine of 2-6 carbon atoms into contact with the surface of an etched novolak positive photoresist, and removing the resist-peeling liquid containing the thus peeled resist from the surface of the etched resist. The used resist-peeling liquid can easily be recovered and regenerated.
