A touch-panel device including a conductive membrane, current measurement resistors which are connected at one end to both ends of the conductive membrane and which are connected at the other end to one another, an oscillator which is connected on one end to the connection point of the current measurement resistors and is connected on its other end to the ground, and a serial connection circuit of a switch and a load impedance which circuit is connected between the ground side of the oscillator and one end of the conductive membrane. The touch-panel device measures voltages V and V of both resistors and calculates R /R &equals;V /(V &minus;V ) by turning the switch ON. When a touch position is to be measured, substitute R /R to the equation of R /R &equals;R (V &minus;V )/R(V1&plus;V2)&plus;V2/(V1&plus;V2) so as to obtain a touch position. Therefore, touch position detection accuracy is improved and the cost is reduced.

Touch-panel device

A finger-type blood pressure monitor which is smaller for portability (when not in use). The monitor has a foldable finger cuff which can be stored in a compact case when it is not in use.

A blood pressure monitor includes a main body provided with a power switch and an inflating switch, a cover mounted on the main body in an open-and-close fashion and on an inner wall thereof provided with a display, and a cuff secured to the main body as a single unit. When the cover is closed during not using the monitor, the power and inflating switches are covered with the cover. When the cover is opened for use, the display appears. Thus, the blood pressure monitor provides avoidance of unexpected actuation of the power and inflating switches, improvement of operation of the switches and a view angle of the display, improved assembling work of the monitor, and simplification of repair and replacement in the monitor.

A cuff for a blood pressure meter includes material that does not stretch and in which the length of the surface in contact with the finger does not vary when the cuff is filled with compressed air, regardless of the diameter of the finger. Because the internal pressure in the cuff closely approximates the blood pressure of the finger, the device is accurate. Compressed air is pumped into chambers formed by a basic structure and containment walls. Folded portions which are provided on the containment walls cause surfaces of the containment walls which contact the object to be measured to remain parallel to protruding bodies located on the basic structure as they are displaced by inflation of the chambers.

An electronic thermometer includes a temperature sensing assembly incorporating a temperature sensor element, and a measuring and processing unit for determining and displaying the temperature, wherein the temperature sensing assembly and the measuring and processing unit are physically separable from each other. The temperature sensing assembly includes a code for recording information of the temperature characteristic or the like of the incorporated temperature sensor element. With the aid of the code, the measuring and processing unit is capable of correcting nonuniformity in the characteristic of the mutually exchangeable temperature sensing assemblies, to thereby assure a correct reading.

An improved steam inhaler for producing steam from water and aspirating inhalation liquid having a certain medical efficacy with the steam, comprising: a water supply tank, a first conduit, a first heating chamber, a second conduit, a second heating chamber, and a steam nozzle, along the path the water conveyed. The first and second heating chambers are provided with heating elements, and a one-way valve is provided in the first conduit. Therefore, the water boiled in the first chamber is conducted into the second heating chamber and prevented from returning to the water tank by the one-way valve. The water is completely vaporized in the second heating chamber. Since the water is thus metered from the water tank into the first heating chamber substantially upon demand, the steam inhaler can be activated immediately after the power is turned on, and can be deactivated immediately after the power is turned off. Thereby, the convenience of the steam inhaler is improved, and the waste of the inhalation liquid may be prevented.
