Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a cellulose ester film, the method comprising the steps of dissolving a cellulose ester and a plasticizer in a solvent containing a cyclic diether solvent to obtain a cellulose ester solution, casting the solution on a support to form a cellulose ester film, separating the cellulose ester film from the support, and drying the separated film, wherein the water content of the solution is 0.06 to 15 weight %, and the residual solvent content in the film at the separation step is 50 to 450 weight %.

Disclosed is a method of crystallizing coupler crystals, the method comprising the steps of dissolving crude crystals of a coupler in a first solvent having a first solubility parameter to obtain a coupler solution; and adding to the solution a second solvent having a second solubility parameter different from the first solubility parameter, when the crystallization rate in the solution is 5 to 30 weight % of crystals having a BET value of 10 m.sup.2 /g or less.

A process for manufacturing a thermoplastic resin composition by melt-kneading a thermoplastic resin and fine particles or an additive, includes: introducing gaseous and/or liquid fluid containing fine particles of at most 10 .mu.m particle diameter or an additive to an unmelted granular or molten thermoplastic resin moving bed; adhering or depositing the fine particles or additive onto said moving bed, while the fluid in the gaseous state is being discharged; and then successively melt-kneading a mixture of the granular resin with the fine particles or additive. This process can be combined with a subsequent shaping step continuously that follows. The process of the invention saves energy, raw materials and labor consumptions and yields shaped articles of high quality and uniformity.

Processes for manufacturing thermoplastic resin compositions

A process for producing a titanium dioxide containing polyester resin composition from which a white film useful as a reflective photographic support can be prepared is disclosed. Said process is performed by first supplying a polyester resin and titanium dioxide into a continuous kneading extruder, kneading them in molten state, and supplying an additional charge of the polyester resin to give a desired concentration of the titanium dioxide, wherein the first supplied polyester resin has an intrinsic viscosity of at least 0.40, said titanium dioxide having an average particle size of 0.1-0.5 .mu.m and a water content of no more than 0.5% and having been surface-treated with an aluminum compound and/or a silicon compound, and the concentration of titanium dioxide being in the range of 20-70 wt % when kneaded with the polyester resin in molten state.
