A nitride semiconductor light emitting chip includes: a conductive substrate including a nitride semiconductor layer; an n-type nitride semiconductor layer, an active layer, and a p-type nitride semiconductor layer sequentially formed on a principal surface of the nitride semiconductor layer; and an n-side electrode formed in contact with the conductive substrate. A recess is formed in a back surface of the conductive substrate opposite to the principal surface. The n-side electrode is in contact with at least part of a surface of the recess. A depth D1 is not less than 25% of a thickness T, where T represents a thickness of the conductive substrate, and D1 represents a depth of the recess.

Provided is a nitride semiconductor light-emitting diode having a higher light extraction efficiency and a higher polarization degree. A nitride semiconductor light-emitting diode according to the present invention comprises an active layer generating a polarized light, a first side surface, a second side surface, a third side surface, and a fourth side surface. The first and second side surfaces consist only of a plane including the Z-axis and the Y-axis. The third and fourth side surfaces are perpendicular to the first and second side surfaces and include the X-axis. The third and fourth side surfaces include an inclined surface.

A semiconductor light-emitting device made of a nitride-based semiconductor includes a semiconductor stacked structure having a nonpolar plane or a semipolar plane as a principal plane, and including an active layer for emitting polarized light. The semiconductor light-emitting device includes a striped structure which is provided in a position intersecting an exit path of the polarized light and includes a plurality of recesses. An angle formed between the extension direction of the recesses and the polarization direction of the polarized light is from 0&#xb0; to 45&#xb0;. The recesses have a minute uneven structure (texture) at at least part of a surface of each recess, the minute uneven structure being shallower than the depth of each recess.

It is to provide a reflection sheet, light source device and display device, not only for uniforming the luminance of light emitted from a light source, but also for utilizing a single sheet material to form the reflection sheet having a frame portion that continues to all rims of a flat portion. The reflection sheet is provided with a flat portion that is formed in a substantially square shape, and a frame portion that is folded at a first fold formed on a rim of the flat portion. It is formed in a case shape. It is provided with three second folds divergent from a corner of the flat portion to a rim of a corner on the frame portion, between each corner of the flat portion and the rim of the corner on the frame portion. No gap and step are generated on the corner.

There is provided a contactless electricity-supplying device that can safely and efficiently supply power to a load. A contactless electricity-supplying device includes a plurality of electricity-supplying coils; a DC/AC converter that converts an output voltage from a DC supplying unit into an AC voltage to be applied to each electricity-supplying coils; a plurality of electricity-receiving coils selectively and detachably mounted on positions where the electricity-receiving coils are electromagnetically coupled to the electricity-supplying coils to receive AC voltages from the corresponding electricity-supplying coils in a contactless manner; a plurality of rectifying/smooth units that each convert an AC voltage output from each electricity-receiving coil into a DC voltage and smooth the DC voltage; a switching device that connects the DC voltages output from the rectifying/smoothing units to a single load; an electricity-reception detection sensor for detecting that the electricity-receiving coils receive the AC voltages from the corresponding electricity-supplying coils; and a control unit that turns on the switching device when it is detected that all of the electricity-receiving coils receive the AC voltages from the corresponding electricity-supplying coils.

Contactless electricity-supplying device

Concave marks indicative of an orientation of a circuit board are formed on the circuit board, convex indices to be engaged with the marks are formed in a position in which the circuit is to be attached. An operator confirms the orientation of the circuit board easily and accurately by visually recognizing the marks and touching the marks with a finger. Moreover, the operator positions the circuit board by engaging the marks with the indices.

A light source device includes a circuit board having a light-emitting element mounted on a one surface; a support body positioned on the other surface side of the circuit board for supporting the circuit board; a rivet having a head portion, which is positioned on a side of the one surface of the circuit board and cannot be inserted into a first through hole provided on the circuit board and the support body, and a shaft portion having a tip side stopped and held on the support body in a penetration via the first through hole; and a reflection sheet arranged on the one surface of the circuit board for reflecting light. Provided is a novel method for forming a groove composed of two smooth inclined surfaces on a surface of a flat plate formed of a nitride semiconductor crystal having an A, C, M-axes. In the present invention, a disk-shaped dicing blade is moved along a direction of the A-axis to form first and second inclined surfaces on the surface of the flat plate. Method for forming a groove on a surface of flat plate formed of a nitride semiconductor crystal

There are provided a light source device and a display device which do not generate a wrinkle on an optical sheet even if the optical sheet is held on an LED substrate. A reflection sheet is disposed between each of head portions possessed by a rivet, a positioning rivet and a support rivet and one surface of an LED substrate where an LED is mounted, and a gap in a direction of a sheet thickness is provided between the head portion of each of the rivets and the reflection sheet. In the case in which a sudden thermal change is caused, therefore, the reflection sheet expands or contracts between the head portion of each of the rivets and the reflection sheet so that the wrinkle can be prevented from being generated over the reflection sheet.

A fuel cell stack formed by stacking two or more fuel cell layers each constituted of one or more unit cell and a fuel cell system including the same are provided. Any two fuel cell layers adjacent to each other each have one or more gap region. At least a part of the gap region in one fuel cell layer of any two fuel cell layers adjacent to each other is in contact with a unit cell constituting the other fuel cell layer. The gap region in one fuel cell layer and the gap region in the other fuel cell layer communicate with each other. The fuel cell stack is excellent in fuel or oxidizing agent supply performance and it realizes high power density.

A switch selects an inputted direct-current voltage at rising of the inputted direct-current voltage, and selects an outputted voltage after the rising of the outputted voltage, for an input to the constant voltage circuit which supplies power to a control circuit. Therefore, once the step-up operation is carried out in a state where the inputted direct-current voltage is at or greater than the operation voltage of the control circuit, the power source of the control circuit is switched to the side of the outputted voltage which has been increased even when the inputted direct-current voltage decreases. Consequently, the voltage of the power source of the control circuit stays at or greater than the operation voltage of the control circuit, and the stabilized power circuit can carry out a proper operation. This function prevents the operation from being inadequate due to a decrease of the inputted direct-current voltage, and a proper operation can be carried out. Further, a signal of the hysteresis comparator is used for the switching for an input of the constant voltage circuit which supplies the power source to the control section. Thus, the circuit can be simplified.

Switched-capacitor-type stabilized power circuit

A control section controls a switch to a charge period so as to charge a voltage-increasing capacitor at a start up. Then, the control section controls the switch to a voltage-increasing period so as to increase a voltage by a voltage-increasing capacitor and charges the output capacitor. The switching section alternately switches the charge period and the voltage-increasing period so that the charged voltage of the output capacitor, i.e., the output voltage is always stabilized within a range of the output voltage in a steady state. Here, a soft start circuit controls the switching section to carry out the switching operation so that the charged voltage always becomes not more than the output voltage in the steady state at the start-up.
