A 5-direction key operating device is provided in which the structure of diaphragm contacts disposed on a printed circuit board is improved to allow five diaphragms to be disposed in a minimum space, and a single button key is enabled to operate the five diaphragms. Moreover, a 5-direction key operating device is provided in which an operation space can be reduced, and desired one of information displayed on a display section can be selected and determined by a smooth key operation without causing an erroneous operation. In each of diaphragm contacts on which diaphragms () that are arranged in the shape of a cross in correspondence with 5-direction keys are to be placed, a circular contact () which is a first contact, and strip-like contact portions (to) which are elongated in a fan-like shape with respect to the center of the first contact () are disposed in a second contact () and in the side opposite to the side of the first contact (). According to this configuration and arrangement, the space for disposing the diaphragm contacts can be reduced, and the whole device can be miniaturized and lightened. Five diaphragms are shown on the printed circuit board, and five pusher portions are disposed on a core face opposed to the diaphragms and on a key base. The height of the upper, lower, right, and left pusher portions is set to be different from that of the center pusher portion.

5-directional key operation device

In a portable telephone, a display device, a telephone receiver, a ten-numeral entry key, a telephone transmitter, and the like are mounted on surface sides of a first housing () and a second housing (), which are located on inner sides thereof when the first housing and the second housing are closed, both the first housing and the second housing being hinged to each other via a hinge portion in a freely openable/closable manner; and a speaker for producing at least a telephone call-receiving sound is provided on the surface side of any one of the first housing, the second housing, and the hinge portion. Also, a sound projection portion () for projecting the telephone call-receiving sound produced from the speaker is formed in a side of the portion where the speaker is provided even under such a condition that the first housing and the second housing are closed. As a result, the speaker sounds can be projected forwardly in sufficiently high levels even under such a condition that the first and second housings are opened, and furthermore, the telephone call-receiving sound can also be heard in sufficiently high levels even under such a condition that the first and second housings are closed.

A gutter-like antenna tube storage part having a half cylindrical shape, is recessed downward from a flat part of a battery storage part, integrally with a rear case of a housing of a portable terminal device. Therefore, the section modulus of the rear case in terms of the strength of materials can be large, and thus deterioration of the rigidity can be prevented even in the case the device main body is made thinner.

The water sinking confirmation device includes a lower case provided with a hole, a double side coated adhesive member for bonding both sides, surrounding the hole, a transparent sheet for blocking entrance of water from the hole and allowing the state change of a water sinking confirmation seal seen through from the surface thereof, and the water sinking confirmation seal including a double side coated adhesive member disposed at both ends of the transparent sheet and a white plain paper, and the white plain paper applied with red color printing with a water-color ink at the center. The hole is formed at a position not to be covered by another part mounted on the lower case, for example, above a holding member.

A printed board placed on a lower case of a portable terminal device comprises a circuit pattern for realizing electric connection based on the key button operation via a key pad, an LED for irradiating characters or numbers on the key buttons with a light, a black printing printed/coated with a low reflector for eliminating the light irregularity, and white printings printed/coated with a high reflector for eliminating the light irregularity.

A water-proof structure of a key sheet periphery portion of a portable terminal device. The device includes an upper cover having a rib with a substantially convex cross-section provided around an operating portion, a printed board for receiving an operation input from the operating portion, and a key sheet provided between the upper cover and the printed board, having a rib with a substantially convex cross-section provided contacting with the printed board with a center shared with the rib with the substantially convex cross-section provided in the upper cover. The present invention is for providing a portable terminal device with improved mechanical strength and rigidity of a case so as to prevent damage of functional parts with respect to bend or twist deriving from a small size and a thin shape of the portable terminal device main body, which comprises a printed board with mounting parts mounted thereon, a lower case with receiving ribs provided corresponding to the arrangement position of the mounting parts for receiving the mounting parts, and a battery case provided below the lower case for supporting deformation of the lower case.

There is provided a radio device housing, without the risk of causing deterioration of the mechanical strength and the rigidity of the housing with respect to bend or twist deriving from a small size and a thin shape of the radio device main body. First ribs are provided in either an upper case or a lower case on the entire periphery along the joint surface of the upper case and the lower case. A plurality of fitting nails are provided in either the upper case or the lower case for holding and fixing with each other. Second ribs are provided in the rifts in the case not having the first ribs.
