A printer having a roll paper compartmentfor housing a recording paper roll and a movable dividerfor adjustably setting one side of the roll paper compartmentto adjustably accommodate different widths of roll paper and to facilitate placement of a remaining paper detectorin the roll paper compartmentfor detecting how much paper remains on the paper roll. The divider facilitates installation of an after market remaining paper detector in the printer. The remaining paper detector can be positioned at a plurality of different angular positions around an axis of rotation substantially parallel to the widthwise direction of the printer. The roll paper compartmentof the printerhas a bottomand a fixed side panelfor defining the other side of the roll paper compartment. The divideris removably connected to the bottom, and can be selectively fixed to any one of a multiple number of positions along the width of the printer parallel to the longitudinal axis thereof.

In order to fix case members in relation to a frame member, an elongated fitting plate is fitted with fitting portions of the frame member and fitting portions of the case members. There is provided a fitting plate cover that covers the fitting plate and that fits to the case members thereby to constitute a part of the external shape of the printer. The fitting plate cover includes a protrusion for restraining the movement of the fitting plate. First and second engagement members are provided to fix a main case member with the frame member. The first engagement member prevents open-ends of side walls of the main case member from separating from the frame member. The second engagement member, which is located closer to closed-ends of the side walls, prevents the main case member from moving in the direction opposite to its attaching direction.

Printer with frame member for supporting components

A hybrid printer includes a first printer, a second printer and a printer mounting base capable of mounting the first and second printers. The first printer has a first printing section for printing on a first recording paper, a first transfer path for transferring the first recording paper to the first printing section, a first base having the first transfer path formed thereon, and a first cantilever for supporting the first printing section above the first base. The second printer has a second printing section for printing on a second recording paper. The printer mounting base has a second base, a second transfer path formed on the second base and a second cantilever fixed to the second base. The second printer is mountable on the second cantilever of the printer mounting base. The printer mounting base is mountable in the rear of the first printer, and the second transfer path is disposed on an extension line of the first transfer path and continuous to the first transfer path when the printer mounting base is mounted on the first printer.
