A data processing system includes a unit which executes predetermined data processing by linking first and second apparatuses, a communication control unit which establishes and maintains a communication connection between the apparatuses even if the connection is not in a predetermined operation state capable of executing data processing, a pairing unit which causes the apparatuses to transition to a pairing state, and a control unit which, if the apparatuses' transition to the pairing state is not in a predetermined operation state, causes transition to the operation state by transmitting predetermined signals between the apparatuses via the communication control unit. The execution unit causes the apparatuses to transition to a pairing state, and then executes data processing by linking them. The communication control unit judges whether to establish a communication connection between the apparatuses by referencing pairing states between them, and of a combination with another first or second apparatus.

Data processing system executing predetermined data processing by plurality of apparatuses linking

A data processing system (S) is configured so as mutually register transmission destinations between devices performing communication. In addition, the data processing system (S) performs a predetermined communication procedure for communicating predetermined information to transition to a communication connection state establishing a mutual communication connection, and in the communication connection state, performs intermittent periodic communication every predetermined interval, where the communication connection state is maintained while periodic communication is maintained, and the communication connection state is released in a case of the periodic communication being interrupted, and in the state in which the communication connection state is released, controls the allowance of transition to the communication connection state again, according to a change state of contents of the predetermined information sent upon transitioning to the communication connection state, and the presence of a transmission destination recorded.

In synchronous interval photographing by a plurality of imaging apparatuses, an imaging apparatus functioning as a master clocks a photographing interval in the interval photographing, sequentially generates photographing instruction signals at clocked photographing intervals, instructs its own imaging section to perform image photographing every time a photographing instruction signal is generated, and transmits the photographing instruction signal to the other imaging apparatus. The imaging apparatus functioning as the slave instructs its own imaging section to perform image photographing every time a photographing instruction signal is received from the imaging apparatus functioning as the master.

An image processing apparatus sends an image to an external apparatus. The image processing apparatus includes a communication control unit, and a processing unit. The communication control unit, when an image is photographed by an image capture unit, controls the first communication unit to automatically send the photographed image to an external apparatus, and the communication control unit, controls the first communication unit to manually send the photographed image which is stored and is selected by a user to an external apparatus. The processing unit, when sending an image to an external apparatus, processes an image sent based on whether sending the image is the automatic sending or the manual sending.

An image pickup apparatus includes a communication unit, a process unit, a transmission control unit, an obtaining unit and a process control unit. The process unit successively processes images picked up by an image pickup unit. The transmission control unit makes the communication unit send the images to the external device via the communication line. The obtaining unit obtains communication quality information on quality of the communication with the external device. The process control unit controls at least one of (i) an action content of the image pickup unit and (ii) a process content of the process unit on the basis of the communication quality information.

An imaging device shoots a common subject in synchronization with other imaging devices. The imaging device includes a processor. The processor receives states of the other imaging devices, compare an own state of the imaging device with the received states of the other imaging devices, and determine whether the imaging device functions as a main device or a subordinate device for setting an imaging condition. When the processor determines that the imaging device functions as the main device, the processor sends imaging information acquired or determined by the imaging device for shooting the common subject to the subordinate devices. Plural pieces of frame data compose a moving image. When a data writing process of writing previous frame data is in progress at the time when the latest frame data is written at a certain frame period while the plural pieces of frame data are being successively written on a recording medium, it is determined that a delay has occurred in the writing process of writing the frame data on the recording medium. When it is determined that a delay has occurred in the writing process, alternative frame data is written on the recording medium in place of the latest frame data, whereby a data amount to be recorded is reduced. When it is determined that no delay has occurred, the latest frame data is written on the recording medium.

Two sets of image data are combined into one set of image data producing no unnatural feeling with a simple procedure. A direction for each set of image data is designated on a touch panel (). The directions of the image data are compared, and a tilt of one of the sets of image data is adjusted relative to the other set of image data based on the result of the comparison. The adjusted image data and the other image data are combined into one set of image data producing a natural feeling.
