An interior structure for a vehicle includes: an instrument panel disposed below a front window; an instrument panel reinforcement extending in a vehicle width direction of the vehicle at a position below the instrument panel; a head-up display device having a housing structure including a front surface and a lower surface, and configured to project information onto the front window; and a support member mounted in the instrument panel, and configured to fixedly support the head-up display device. The support member includes a front wall facing the front surface of the head-up display device and a lower wall facing the lower surface, a first fixing portion serving as a fixing portion to the instrument panel, and a second fixing portion serving as a fixing portion to the instrument panel reinforcement.

A knee protector is disposed in the instrument panel corresponding to a position of the knees of the passenger. The knee protector has a receiving portion for receiving an impact from the knees of a passenger sitting on a front passenger seat. A deformable portion deforms when the receiving portion receives the impact from the knees of the passenger. Equipment is installed in the instrument panel in front of the knee protector, and a restricting member is provided on the steering support member and disposed between the equipment and the knee protector for restricting movement of the equipment backwardly.

A passenger restraint structure for an automotive vehicle has a glove box which has at least one face that is able to be opened to a passenger compartment and is attached to an instrument panel so as to be opposed to the knees of a passenger. The glove box has an intermediate wall connecting a front wall and a rear wall of the glove box. A stiffener member is located between the glove box and a part of a vehicle body and is stiffer than the glove box for crash energy generated between the passenger and the vehicle body in the running direction of the vehicle. Upon impact, the weaker intermediate wall of the glove box is compressed, deformed and broken, thereby absorbing the crash energy.

A steering apparatus support structure includes a steering support member extending transversely in a vehicle body and secured to rigid side components of the vehicle body which are likely free from deformation during a frontal end collision and a support bracket device secured to and supported by the steering support member for supporting forward and rearward portions of the steering column. The protecting panel has an upper panel portion and a lower panel portion. A knee protector structure comprises a transverse frame member extending in the transverse direction of a vehicle body below an instrument panel provided in front of the front seat, a center bracket an upper portion of which is connected to a body panel in front of the front seat substantially at the middle between right and left sides and a lower portion of which is connected to the floor of the vehicle body. The frame member is connected to the cabside at an outer end portion and to the center bracket at an inner end portion. A knee pad is supported by a bracket member connected to the frame member at a front end portion and to the knee pad at a rear end portion.

Knee protector structure for vehicle

A vehicle steering column support structure including a first support member made of a steel pipe. The first support member is from a substantially L-shaped configuration and has a first portion extending along the cowl inner panel and a second portion extending downward from a first portion. The first portion is connected at the end with the cowl side panel and the second portion is connected to the floor panel. A second support member made of a steel pipe is further provided and has a first portion extending along the first portion from the first support member, and a second portion extending forward from the first portion. The first portion of the second support member is connected with the cowl side panel and the second portion is connected with the cowl inner panel. The steering column is supported through a bracket by the first and second support member and the cowl inner panel.

Steering column support structure for a vehicle steering mechanism

A vehicle steering column support structure including a first support member made of a steel pipe extending between the cowl side panels substantially parallelly with the cowl inner panel. A second support member of a substantially L-shaped configuration is provided and has a first portion extending along the first support member and a second portion extending downward from the first portion. The first portion is connected at the end with the cowl side panel and the second portion is connected to the floor panel. The steering column is supported through a bracket by the first and second support member and the cowl inner panel.
