A water-treating ceramic filter unit comprising a filter having pluralities of flow paths partitioned by porous ceramic cell walls and plugs alternately sealing the one-side or other-side ends of the flow paths; a housing containing the filter such that water to be treated is supplied from one end of the filter, and that the treated water is discharged from the other end of the filter; and seal members disposed on the outer edge portions of both end surfaces of the filter for longitudinally sandwiching and fixing the filter to the housing; the maximum of a gap between a side surface of the filter and the housing being equal to or less than the equivalent diameter of the flow paths.

Water-treating ceramic filter unit

A water-treating ceramic filter module comprising a filter unit, and a housing containing the filter unit; the filter unit comprising pluralities of cylindrical honeycomb structures each having pluralities of flow paths partitioned by porous ceramic cell walls and extending in one direction, and sheet-shaped connecting members connecting the honeycomb structures in series in the flow path direction; each connecting member having pluralities of penetrating holes for achieving the communication of the corresponding flow paths of adjacent honeycomb structures, to constitute pluralities of communicating flow paths; the communicating flow paths being composed of first communicating flow paths plugged only at one-side end, and second communicating flow paths plugged only at the other-side end; and the housing has an inlet on the side of the one-side end for receiving the water to be treated from outside, and an outlet on the side of the other-side end for discharging the treated water.

Water-treating ceramic filter module

An adsorption structure unit prevents water leakage from an adsorption structure and improves the durability of the adsorption structure and the durability of the adsorption structure unit. An adsorption structure has a filter portion having a plurality of flow paths divided by a plurality of partition walls and a plugged portion shutting a feed water inflow or outflow end of the plurality of flow paths, a water-impermeable outer tube accommodating the filter portion, and a seal material blocking a gap between the filter portion and the outer tube in at least one end portion of the filter portion. An adsorption structure unit has the adsorption structure, a housing supplying feed water from one end of the adsorption structure, and discharging the feed water from the other end, and a ring member disposed between end portions on both sides of the outer tube and an inner surface of the housing.

A cordierite-based ceramic honeycomb filter comprising a honeycomb structure having a large number of flow paths partitioned by porous cell walls, and plugs alternately formed in said flow paths on the exhaust-gas-inlet side or the exhaust-gas-outlet side for permitting an exhaust gas to pass through said porous cell walls to remove particulate matter from the exhaust gas, said porous cell walls having porosity of 45-58%, an average pore size of 15-30 &#x3bc;m, the volume of pores having pore sizes exceeding 50 &#x3bc;m being more than 10% and 25% or less of the total pore volume, the volume of pores having pore sizes of 100 &#x3bc;m or more being 1-8% of the total pore volume, the volume of pores having pore sizes of less than 10 &#x3bc;m being 3-10% of the total pore volume, and said pores having a pore size distribution deviation &#x3c3; [=log(D20)&#x2212;log(D80)] of 0.6 or less, wherein D20 represents a pore size (&#x3bc;m) at a pore volume corresponding to 20% of the total pore volume, and D80 represents a pore size (&#x3bc;m) at a pore volume corresponding to 80% of the total pore volume, both in a curve representing the relation between the pore size and the cumulative pore volume, and D80&#x3c;D20.

A ceramic honeycomb filter comprising a honeycomb structure having a large number of flow paths partitioned by porous cell walls; and plugs formed in the flow paths alternately on the exhaust gas inlet and outlet sides; the thickness W (mm) and permeability &#x3ba; (&#x3bc;m) of the cell wall and the length L (mm) and cross section area A (mm) perpendicular to the length direction of the flow path meeting the relations of 0.1&#x2266;W&#x2266;0.5, 8&#x2266;&#x3ba;/W&#x2266;26.7, and 125&#x2266;L/A&#x2266;360.

Ceramic honeycomb filter

A ceramic honeycomb filter comprising a honeycomb structure having large numbers of flow paths partitioned by porous cell walls, and plugs alternately formed in the flow paths on the exhaust-gas-inlet and outlet sides, the area ratio of pores opening at the cell wall surfaces being 20% or more, porous, cross-linked structures being formed by heat-resistant particles introduced together with a gas into penetrating holes constituted by communicating pores in the cell walls, such that they clog the penetrating holes, and the cross-linked structures being formed more on the exhaust-gas-outlet side of the ceramic honeycomb filter than on the exhaust-gas-inlet side.

A method for producing a honeycomb filter from a honeycomb structure having large numbers of flow paths partitioned by cell walls, comprising inserting a tubular member into each of the flow paths, and injecting a plugging material into each of the flow paths from the tubular member to form a plug in each of the flow paths at a position separate from the end surface of the honeycomb structure, the tubular member having an outer diameter that is 40-90% of the opening size of the flow path, the plugging material comprising at least a ceramic material having a maximum particle size that is 85% or less of the inner diameter of the tubular member, and an average particle size of 1 &#x3bc;m or more.
