This invention relates to a method of bridge erection i.e., an arrangement for erecting a bridge girder. More particularly, it is concerned with an erection method, in which a bridge girder is smoothly extruded, together with a movable member, on a temporary support member which is disposed on an upper shoe until the girder reaches a position near the installation position, whereupon a coupling member for connecting the upper shoe with a sole plate which is pre-fixed to the girder, is attached to the sole plate, then in this condition the girder is again moved forward up to the installation position while pushing the end portion of the temporary support member on the upper shoe by the coupling member so as to displace the temporary support member and the movable member by the coupling member, whereby the bridge girder and the support structure are fixed in engagement with each other without the need to lift the bridge girder.

Method of erecting a bridge girder

A fixed support structure comprising a pair of support units each including a housing and a ball stud having a ball portion placed in the housing and a threaded shank portion, which are formed integrally with the ball portion, the ball stud shank portions extending downward for the respective housings, the housings fixed to an upper structure such as a bridge girder directly or indirectly in spaced relation, and the ball stud shank portions threadedly fixed to a retainer fixed on a base plate fixed to a lower structure such as a bridge base.

Fixed support structure

A support structure comprising a pair of support units each including a housing and a ball stud having a ball portion placed in the housing and a shank portion formed integrally with the ball portion, the upper support unit having its ball stud shank portion extending downward from the housing fixed to an upper structure such as a bridge girder, the lower support unit having its ball stud shank portion extending upward from the housing fixedly embedded in a lower structure such as a bridge base in the position facing the upper support unit, the upper and lower support units connected to each other at their ball stud portions, and retaining member fixed on a base plate fixed on the lower structure and fitted around the shank portion of the coupled upper and lower support units.
