A process for producing acrylic acid from propane and oxygen gas through a vapor-phase catalytic oxidation reaction, said process comprising conducting the reaction using as a catalyst a metal oxide containing metallic elements Mo, V, Sb, and A (provided that A is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Nb, Ta, Sn, W, Ti, Ni, Fe, Cr, and Co). The metal oxide is prepared by a process including specific steps (1) and (2). The metal oxide may be supported on a compound containing specific elements.

Process for producing acrylic acid

The present invention is to provide for a process for producing 3-chloromethyl-3-alkyloxetanes from a 1,1-bis(chloromethyl)-1-hydroxymethylalkane or its carboxylate ester through a dehydrogen chloride reaction or a deacid chloride reaction in an aqueous solution or suspension of an alkaline compound. The reaction is conducted, either in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst or an anion exchange resin having an ammonium group, or, while distilling the formed 3-chloromethyl-3-alkyloxetane out azeotropically with water. The invention enables one to produce 3-chloromethyl-3-alkyloxetanes within a shorter period of time and with a higher yield, and thus the process is much advantageous and useful from the industrial points of view.

Disclosed is a granular inorganic ion exchanger which is obtained by firing at 400.degree. C. or higher a granular molded product of a mixture of a metal alkoxide such as Si(OMe).sub.4 or hydrolyzate thereof, a clay mineral such as sepiolite and an inorganic ion exchanger such as antimony pentoxide and which has mechanical strength and heat resistance without losing its inherent ion exchangeability.

C with the addition of a phenol in an amount such that the total amount of the phenolic hydroxyl group is greater than one equivalent per mol of formaldehyde; or (d) mixtures thereof.

A process for bonding steel sheets, e.g., into metallic cans, which comprises applying first a primer comprising 0.1 to 2.5 weight parts of a bisphenol type A epoxy resin having a mean molecular weight of more than about 800, preferably 2000 to 4000, and 1 weight part of thermosetting phenolic resin, which is obtained by heating an aqueous solution comprising phenol, orthocresol and formaldehyde in the presence of a catalyst and reacting them with each other under refluxing conditions, on the surface of the steel sheets, heating the resultant steel sheets, and then bonding the steel sheets with a polyamide, and a primer composition for use in the process.
