A hot water supply system includes a hot water storage tank configured to store hot water, a plurality of temperature sensors that are installed in the height direction of the water storage tank and that detect temperatures at their installed positions, a main-unit-side hot water supply device that heats hot water in the hot water storage tank, a sub-unit-side hot water supply device, a main-unit-side control board equipped with control means that controls the corresponding hot water supply device, and a sub-unit-side control board. Signals sent from the temperature sensors are input in a distributed manner among the main-unit-side control board and the sub-unit-side control board, and each of the control boards are communicably connected to each other by a transmission line.

A vibration damping device includes first and second accelerometers which are used to determine the relative displacement between a body and a base between which the device is operatively connected. The output of one of the accelerometers is also monitored in a manner to determine the frequency of the vibration. This data is processed in a manner to ascertain the timing when the phases of a vertical spring input (produced by the compression of an elastomeric member which defines the main spring of the damper) and an expansion spring input (produced the displacement of rheopetic fluid between first and second variable volume chamber and the associated expansion characeristics of the members defining the same) are reversed. Using this data and the vibration frequency data the timing with which a voltage should be applied to electrodes disposed in an orifice interposed between the first and second chambers to increase the viscosity of the rheopetic fluid and increase the flow resistance of the orifice. The device further includes a perforate suspended mass which is tuned in a manner to act as a dynamic damper.

A system and method for controlling ignition timing for a vehicular internal combustion engine in which when the engine is transferred to a transient operating state (accelerated or decelerated), a correction for the basic ignition timing determined according to engine operating conditions is reversed depending on whether the basic ignition timing advance angle exceeds a MBT (Minimum advance for a Best Torque) ignition timing angle such that, on condition that the basic ignition advance angle exceeds the MBT ignition timing angle, the basic ignition timing advance angle is advanced when the engine rotational speed is increased and is retarded when the engine rotational speed is decreased, thus suppressing the generation of shuddering vibrations generated by the engine.

A system and method for controlling an ignition timing for a vehicular internal combustion, are disclosed in which a basic ignition timing is determined on the basis of engine operating conditions, i.e., an engine revolution speed and pulsewidth of a fuel injection signal supplied to an injection valve for each engine cylinder. A first correction quantity to correct the basic ignition timing is determined on the basis of a change rate of the engine revolution speed. A second correction quantity to correct the basic ignition timing is determined on the basis of an engine load. A final ignition timing is determined on the basis of the basic ignition timing and/or first and second correction quantities when the engine falls into a transient operating condition, any one of shift gear positions is detected, the gear shift positions including a position in which no engine driving force is transmitted to a vehicular power train. The final ignition timing is determined according to the gear shift range position. In addition, when the gear shift is placed in the position in which no engine driving force is transmitted to the power train and the change in the engine revolution speed occurs, the basic ignition timing is determined to be the final ignition timing.

A vibration damper includes first and second electrode bodies which are operatively connected with a vibrating body and a base, respectively and which are immersed in a rheopetic fluid. The relative velocity and displacement between the body and the base are determined and used to control the voltage applied across the electrode bodies in manner wherein when the relative displacement and velocity are out of phase, a high voltage is applied to electrodes to induce a high damping force and as the period wherein the two parameters go in phase is approchaed, the voltage is continuously reduced to reduce the damping force.

An ignition timing adjusting apparatus of an internal combustion engine is provided so as to suppress the vibration of the body of a vehicle when it is accelerated. This is achieved by obtaining a first ignition timing compensation magnitude determined on the basis of the revolution speed fluctuation of the internal combustion engine and a second ignition timing compensation magnitude determined on the basis of the engine load condition, and by compensating a basic ignition timing in accordance with the first and second ignition timing compensation magnitude when the vehicle is accelerated.

In a method of fabricating a master recording disc, a photoresist layer is formed on a glass substrate to form a master blank, which is revolved and exposed to an intensity-modulated laser beam so that a series of optically excited regions is formed in track turns in the photoresist layer. The optically excited regions are removed, forming a series of pits in the photoresist layer. An etchant gas is sputtered onto the master blank until the pits in the photoresist layer extend through the boundary surface of the photoresist layer and the glass substrate to a desired depth and pits having side walls tapered in a direction away from the boundary surface are formed in the substrate. The photoresist layer which remains on the glass substrate is finally removed.

An automotive internal combustion engine comprises a cylinder block having a plurality of cylinder bores and a plurality of bearing bulkheads, and a bearing beam structure secured to the bottom part of the cylinder block and including a plurality of main bearing cap sections each of which associates with each cylinder block bearing bulkhead to rotatably support the journal of a crankshaft, and two beam sections for securely connecting all the bearing cap sections, the two beam sections extending parallel with the axis of the crankshaft and being located at the opposite side portions, respectively, of each bearing cap section, thereby improving the strength of the main bearing cap sections and the cylinder block bearing bulkheads against the tortional and flexural vibrations to effectively suppress the vibrations of a cylinder block skirt section and an oil pan.

A vibration suppression system for a diesel engine, comprises a device for decreasing the amount of intake air to be inducted into the engine when operated. A heating device is provided to heat the intake air when operated. A first detecting device is provided to detect a low engine speed and low engine load operating range of the engine, to produce a first signal in response thereto. A second detecting device is provided to detect the level of vibrational acceleration of engine vibration having frequencies within a predetermined range, and to produce a second signal in response thereto. First and second control devices are provided respectively operate the intake air amount decreasing device in response to the first signal and the heating device in response to the second signal, thereby throttling intake air in the low engine speed and low engine load operating range while heating intake air when the vibration acceleration level is outside a predetermined allowable range.
