An internal combustion engine includes an intake passage structure. The engine is configured such that a cylinder head is formed integrally with an intake manifold portion. A cylinder central axis is oriented parallel to an extending direction of an intake passage, when viewed in a side view. An injector is arranged such that it does not interfere with peripheral components, including the intake passage and a throttle body. The injector is disposed in the intake manifold portion such that a leading end thereof is oriented towards the intake valve of the cylinder head. The intake passage on the upstream side of an injector attachment position is offset from the injector in a width-direction of the internal combustion engine.

A fixation structure for a valve system rotation shaft of an internal combustion engine to support a camshaft with a cylinder head through the use of a lower cam holder and cam caps, which are formed separately from the cylinder head. The fixation structure eliminates the necessity of taking special vibration/noise control measures for a head cover thus preventing an increase in the cost, size, and weight of the head cover. A head external wall extends toward the head cover rather than toward a head middle surface in such a manner so as to cover the circumference of the lower cam holder fixed to a head middle surface. The connection to the holder fixation section is established with the base end of an external wall of the head cover abutted on the leading end of the head external wall.

A valve actuating mechanism includes a first rocker arm moving mechanism including a first spring for urging left and right rocker arms from a first operation position side towards a second operation position side. The valve actuating mechanism also includes a second rocker arm moving mechanism including a second spring for urging the left and right rocker arms from the second operation position side towards the first operation position side. When a predetermined force is applied to the left and right rocker arms by one of the respective springs, the rocker arms are configured to be moved to operation positions corresponding to the applied force.

A valve actuating mechanism for an internal combustion engine includes a first rocker arm moving mechanism, a second rocker arm moving mechanism, and a trigger arm. The first rocker arm moving mechanism moves left and right rocker arms from a first operation position side to a second operation position side. The second rocker arm moving mechanism moves the left and right rocker arms from the second operation position side to the first operation position side, and the trigger arm selectively restricts the movement of the left and right rocker arms. During engine operation, left and right rocker-side key portions of the left and right rocker arms, respectively, and left and right trigger-side key portions of the trigger arm selectively maintain or remove a restriction on the movement of the left and right rocker arms, in response to a rocking state of the left and right rocker arms.

A valve actuating mechanism for an engine having a rocker arm movement restraining device which controls opening and closing an engine valve. The rocker arm movement restraining device includes a timing arm which engages left and right rocker arms for constraining the axial movement thereof, and a timing cam disposed on an intake-side camshaft. The rocker arm movement restraining device releases the engagement of the timing arm with the left and right rocker arms by activating the timing arm when the intake-side camshaft is rotated, and when the timing arm releases the engagement with the left and right rocker arms, the left and right rocker arms move to a predetermined operating position.

A scooter type vehicle provides a pair of right and left frame members in the interior of a vehicle body cover so as to extend substantially horizontally between a head pipe and the front end of a seat. Right and left footrest plates are provided outside on the right and left of the vehicle body cover. An engine is provided between the right and left frame members with the cylinder axis of the cylinder block being provided so as to extend longitudinally, and the center axis of a crankshaft is provided so as to extend laterally and to be located above the upper surfaces of the right and left footrest plates as seen in a side view. A balancer shaft is located below the crankshaft, and the crankshaft and the balancer shaft are sandwiched and supported between the upper and lower case halves with their center axes being located on the joining surface.

A motorcycle with a low floor is configured such that secondary vibration of an engine can be largely reduced and an increase in engine width can be suppressed. The motorcycle with a low floor includes step floors on which to put a rider's feet on left and right sides of a vehicle body frame. An engine is provided between the step floors. A plurality of exhaust pipes extend respectively from cylinders of the engine, the exhaust pipes being gathered at a gathering portion. The engine is an in-line 3-cylinder engine having cylinder portions inclined forwardly. The exhaust pipes extend downwards from the cylinder portions on the basis of each cylinder. The exhaust pipes are bundled and extend on the right side of the engine, in a position on the lower side of one of the step floors.

The semiconductor integrated circuit includes at least either of a transmitter signal processing circuit composed mainly of an amplifier circuit and a frequency converter circuit for processing a signal which is exploited in the system of the band of millimeter-waves or quasi-millimeter-waves and transmitted to the antenna element, and a receiver signal processing circuit composed mainly of an amplifier circuit and a frequency converter circuit for processing a signal which is received by the antenna element and exploited in the system of the band of millimeter-waves or quasi-millimeter-waves. The hermetically sealing portion is designed for hermetically sealing the antenna element and the semiconductor integrated circuit formed on the substrate within a common space defined by a boundary surface or the side of the substrate while the transmissivity of radio waves to the antenna element for the system of the band of millimeter-waves or quasi-millimeter-waves is maintained.

To provide a compact water-cooled four cycle engine suitable for a hybrid type power unit. The tension of a belt is increased by loosening bolts, turning an eccentric tube fitting, and moving a common pulley. After the tension of the belt is thus adjusted, the bolts are fastened. A water pump, which is supported by a shaft portion fitted in a guide groove and by the two bolts, are not moved except for the step of adjusting the tension of the belt 122. Since the tensioner serves as the pump pulley, it is possible to reduce the number of pulleys and hence to simplify the layout of the pulleys and reduce the number of parts. In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, a thermostat is mounted in a water jacket near an intake port of a cylinder head and is covered with an intake manifold. It is therefore unnecessary to provide a case and a lid for mounting the thermostat.

A semiconductor module having a compact antenna element capable of providing desired directivity therein has been disclosed. When an electromagnetic-wave radiation window has the capability of a lens, directivity can be set arbitrarily. For improving directivity, a convergent lens for converging millimeter waves or quasi millimeter waves is employed. For impairing directivity, a divergent lens is employed. In the case of the convergent lens, a direction in which radio waves are radiated or received by the antenna element can be set by deviating the center axis of the lens from the center of the antenna element.

In an engine valve drive control device, a cam lobe is removably engaged with a cam shaft of a valve actuating line of an engine. The cam lobe is rotated, when engaged, together with the cam shaft to drive a valve. Free rotation of the disengaged cam lobe is halted by a cam rotation halting device to leave the valve inactive. The cam lobe is made axially slidable in the axial direction with respect to the cam shaft, and the engagement/disengagement of the cam lobe with/from the cam shaft are switched according to the sliding motion of the cam lobe.

A semiconductor device is disclosed in which connection between electrodes of a semiconductor element and/or between a plurality of semiconductor elements can be made in one package to the utmost. More particularly, electrodes of two IC chips 12a and 12b are bonded to leader leads 16a and interconnection leads 16b.sub.5 patterned on a film. Connections of the interconnection leads 16b.sub.1 and 16b.sub.2 to 16b.sub.4 and 16b.sub.3 which are impossible by the leads, are made in such a manner that pads 24b.sub.1, 24b.sub.4 and 24b.sub.2, 24b.sub.3 formed on the interconnection leads are connected correspondingly by using bonding wires as jumping wires. After the connection, the IC chips, the leads and the bonding wires are resin-sealed over an overall region encompassed by a region 27.

A valve system for an internal combustion engine capable of changing the valve timing and valve lift of the intake and exhaust valves driven by rocker arms and overhead camshafts. A cam support member is pivotally mounted to the engine head and is positioned by a gear segment mounted to the camshaft support member in combination with a drive including a worm gear and a servomotor located on an engine block. The camshafts are driven by the crankshaft coupled with an idler gear. The idler gear is coupled with the camshaft gears through reduction gears, reducing the overall size of the drive and allowing flexibility as to valve timing.
