A honeycomb structure constituted by honeycomb segments, where a honeycomb segment has a first end and second end surfaces of a quadrangular shape; the second end surface having an area larger than that of the first one, a first pair of two side surfaces facing each other in parallel, and a second pair of two side surfaces facing each other make side surfaces become gradually narrow from the second end surface toward the first end surface, where a plurality of honeycomb segments are disposed in such a manner that the honeycomb segments are aligned to form rows in parallel in a predetermined direction, so as to make adjacent honeycomb segments directed opposite to each other in first end surfaces bonded to each other with one of side surfaces of the second pair of side surfaces.

In each honeycomb segment, a first and a second end surfaces are rectangular shapes having the same dimension, and are in a positional relation in which extending directions of long sides of the respective end surfaces are perpendicular to each other, and (X&#x2212;Y)/2 is from 0.2 to 7 mm, where X is a length of each long side of each of the first and the second end surfaces, and Y is a length of each short side of each of the first and the second end surfaces. The honeycomb segment has two pairs of tapered side surfaces each of which including two side surfaces facing each other so that a distance between side surfaces becomes narrow from the first end surface toward the second end surface end, respectively.

Filter for removing particle matter

A plugged honeycomb structure including a honeycomb structure body, outflow side plugged portions, and inflow side plugged portions. A shape of cells in a cross section is a hexagonal shape. Among six corner portions of each of the hexagonal cells, the corner portion between two partition walls at least one of which is the partition wall separating inflow cells or outflow cells from each other is a specific corner portion, and the corner portion between the two partition walls each of which is the partition wall separating the inflow cell and the outflow cell is an unspecific corner portion. A dust collecting honeycomb filter includes a honeycomb base material having porous partition walls to define and form a plurality of cells, and a flange section disposed on an outer periphery of the honeycomb base material and having porous flange partition walls to define and form 'a plurality of flange cells extending in the same direction as in the cells'. The flange section is formed so as to project outwardly from the outer periphery of the honeycomb base material, the partition walls and the flange partition walls are continuously connected without forming any boundaries therein, the flange section has flange plugging portions.

Dust collecting honeycomb filter

A honeycomb structure includes a porous partition wall defining a plurality of cells serving as fluid passages, an outer peripheral wall located at the outermost periphery, a first cell having one end opened and the end plugged, and a second cell having the one end plugged and the other end opened. The first cells and the second cells are disposed alternately, and the area of the first cells is larger than that of the second cells in a cross section perpendicular to a center axis. The thickness of the partition wall that forms at least one cell from the outermost periphery in the outer peripheral section is 1.1 to 3.0 times the thickness of the partition wall in the center section.

Honeycomb structure and bonded type honeycomb structure

There is disclosed a honeycomb structure including: a plurality of honeycomb segments each having porous partition walls, and plugged portions arranged in open frontal areas of the predetermined cells; joining portions in which the plurality of honeycomb segments are joined; and an outer peripheral wall, and having: an aspect ratio (a long axis/a short axis) of 1.2 or more, wherein corners which are regions of the joining portions in the region of 10 mm or less from each intersection between the joining portion and the outer peripheral wall along a direction of the short axis are present in the region of 25 mm or less, and a thickness of each of the joining portions is 0.5 mm or more and 5 mm or less, and a thickness of each of the other joining portions is 1.5 mm or less.

There is provided a honeycomb catalyst body comprising a honeycomb base body having porous partition walls forming a plurality of divided cells which extend from one end face of honeycomb base body to its other end face and which function as a fluid passage, and an outer wall present at the outermost peripheral portion of honeycomb base body, plugged portions provided so as to plug part of the plurality of divided cells, and a catalyst loaded on the partition walls of honeycomb base body. The plurality of divided cells include outermost peripheral cells formed by the partition walls and the outer wall, and of the outermost peripheral cells, those cells whose hydraulic diameter is 5 to 75% of the hydraulic diameter of a cell other than the outermost peripheral cells, are through-cells having no plugged portion.
