A power transmission device is disclosed which is capable of easily, swiftly and appropriately altering the distance between the axes of a pair of transmission wheels such as pulleys, enabling an endless belt to be kept under constant and appropriate tension without necessitating a tension roller. This power transmission device comprises an endless belt wound around a pair of transmission wheels; and a cam-type adjusting mechanism which is interposed between a driving side supporting member and a driven side supporting member and configured to adjust a distance between the axes of the wheels. This cam-type adjusting mechanism comprises a supporting shaft secured to either the driving side supporting member or the driven side supporting member and disposed parallel to the rotational axes of the wheels; and a cam rotatably secured via a manipulating boss member to the supporting shaft.

Power transmission device and portable power working machine provided with the same

A portable power working machine is disclosed, which is capable of effectively minimizing the clogging of the air cleaner, thereby dispensing with frequent maintenance. This portable power working machine comprises an air cleaner () having a base body case () provided with a clean air discharge port () for introducing the air cleaned into an intake port () of a carburetor (), a filter () which is mounted on a filter mounting opening () of base body case () so as to seal it, and a cleaner cover () which is attached onto the filter () so as to cover the filter () and to guide outside air toward the filter (), while giving a predetermined directionality to the outside air. The air cleaner () is also configured to include a suction port () and a suction guiding member () both designed to discharge the dust out of the air cleaner () through a space formed between the filter () and the cleaner cover () as the dust adhered to the outside air side of the filter () is sucked out by taking advantage of a negative pressure to be generated by a fan ().

Portable power working machine

There is provided a portable air blowing working machine capable of obviating frequent operation for the maintenance of air cleaner and hence capable of improving working efficiency. This working machine includes an internal combustion engine having the air cleaner disposed in the air-intake system thereof, and an air blower to be rotationally driven by the engine; which is characterized in that the air cleaner is provided with a suction port for in drawing in external air, with a filter member for cleaning air drawn from the suction port to thereby permit the cleaned air to be introduced into the engine, and with a discharge port for enabling part of the air drawn from the suction port to be discharged out of the air cleaner without permitting part of the air to pass through the filter member; and that an air flow directed to flow from the suction port to the discharge port is permitted to generate inside the air cleaner by making use of the suction force of the air blower.

There is provided a recoil starter which is capable of inhibiting settling and bending in the spiral spring of spiral spring mechanism, thus improving the durability of the spiral spring and preventing the internal hook end of the spiral spring from being easily disengaged from the core portion. The spiral spring mechanism comprises a spiral spring case placed close to the driving member, a actuating pulley placed close to the driven member, a spiral spring interposed between the spiral spring case and the actuating pulley, and means for rotating the spiral spring case only unidirectionally, wherein the outer and inner ends of the spiral spring are fastened to the spiral spring case and the actuating pulley, respectively.

Starter

A portable power working machine has an L-shaped top handle having a top grip portion that is attached to the front portion of the top of a main housing and extends longitudinally above and parallel to the top of the main housing and a rear coupling portion that is attached to the rear portion of the main housing. A side handle has a front grip portion that is connected directly to the front end of the top grip portion of the top handle and a diagonal grip portion that extends diagonally straight as viewed in side elevation from the front grip portion toward the lower end of the rear coupling portion of the top handle. The lower end of the diagonal grip portion of the side handle is connected directly to the rear coupling portion of the top handle.

A portable power working machine has an L-shaped top handle having a top grip portion that extends longitudinally above and parallel to the top of a main housing and a rear coupling portion that extends along the rear portion of the main housing. A side handle has a front grip portion that is joined to and extends horizontally and laterally from the front end of the top grip portion of the top handle and a diagonal grip portion which curves out and down from the front grip portion and extends diagonally straight as viewed in side elevation from the front grip portion toward the lower end of the rear coupling portion of the top handle. A starting footstool contiguous to a lower end of the diagonal grip portion extends horizontally to the vicinity of and is joined to the lower end portion of the rear coupling portion of the top handle.

A power cutter is disclosed whose dust suction-discharge fan is driven to rotate at a high speed to thereby attain sufficient dust suction-discharge performance, and which can be constructed relatively compactly in size as a whole at a reduced cost. The power cutter includes two rotating operative components (30, 50) driven by a prime mover (5) and a centrifugal clutch (10) operatively connected to the output shaft (7) of the prime mover (5) for rotationally driving the two rotating operative components (30, 50). The centrifugal clutch (10) includes a clutch drum (11) composed integrally of a small diameter pulley portion (21) and a large diameter pulley portion (22). Belt-type drive trains (15A, 16A and 17A, 18A) transmit the rotational drive force to the rotating operative components (30, 50), respectively.

A power cutter is disclosed which is capable of selectively changing the discharge direction of dust discharged from a dust discharge port of a dust suction-discharge fan and, hence, which is capable of optimally adjusting the dust discharge direction according to the operational condition or operational position of the power cutter. An elbow-shaped auxiliary discharge pipe is coupled to the dust discharge port of the dust suction-discharge fan in such a manner that it can be turned and kept at any turned position. In addition, a belt tensioning clutch is provided to permit selective connection and disconnection of the belt drive transmission between the power source and the dust section-discharge fan. This permits fan operation to be interrupted when not needed.

An air cleaner provided with a bellows-like air cleaning filter includes an air permeable and pliable strip-like mesh element (3), a plurality of rectangular plastic frames (4) arrayed side by side with a predetermined pitch on one or both surfaces and along the full length of the mesh element (3), the plastic frames (4) being injection-molded and provided at both end portions in the width-wise direction with angled protrusions (5) having an approximately triangular cross-section and hinge portions (7) formed by thinning or linearly grooving a joint portion of the frames (4) between neighboring plastic frames (4). The bellows-like air cleaning filter is employed by transforming it into a cylindrical shape and fitting end caps (9) thereto.

A hand lever apparatus (throttle lever) (10) is provided which has an automatic restoring function (automatic idle rotation opening position restoring function) to cope with an accident and which can perform normal operation lightly and swiftly. The hand lever apparatus (10) has a rotationally operable operating lever (30) and a toggle mechanism (T). The operating lever (30) is operated to actuate, through the toggle mechanism (T), a cable (20) connected to a driven member (CV) so as to pull the cable (20).

A hand lever apparatus (throttle lever) is provided which has the automatic restoring function (automatic idle rotation opening position restoring function) to cope with accidents and steadily hold a desired operation position (intermediate opening position of a throttle valve). The hand lever apparatus has a rotationally operable main lever (30) and a sub-lever (40) rotationally operated to pull a cable (10a) connected to a driven member (CV). The main lever (30) has a brake plate (34). By pressing the brake plate (34) against an operating portion (42) of the sub-lever (40), rotation of the sub-lever (40) is regulated to hold the sub-lever (40) in a position.

A portable power tool includes a power module and a tool module, e.g., a chain saw module which is attached to the power module and which can be readily exchanged with another tool module, e.g., a cutter module. The power module includes a power source such as two-stroke gasoline engine with a drive shaft. To facilitate rapid exchange of tool modules, there are two or more torque transmission members such as a pulley and a sprocket wheel on the drive shaft, so that different tool modules can be attached to the power module without removal and replacement of the torque transmission member.

A hand lever device is adapted so that a throttle valve as a driven member can be adjusted appropriately in its degree of opening via a cable and kept at a desired degree of opening and yet immediately returned to the minimum degree of opening. The throttle valve can be brought to the degree of opening at which it had stood before it was returned to the minimum opening degree without the necessity of readjustment. The hand lever device comprises a main lever (30) and a sub-lever (60) which ice pivotally operated, wherein the sub-lever (60) is adapted to draw a cable (20) connected to a driven member (CV) via a pulley (50), and wherein the pulley (50) is moved by the main lever (30).

The present invention provides a driving force transmission device (P) which is adapted so that the distance (Ls) between the driving force transmission wheels such as a pair of pulleys (16,32) can readily and surely be changed, thereby, making it possible to constantly exert an appropriate tension on a driving force transmission member such as a belt (22), even without a tension roller. The driving force transmission device (P) includes: a first driving force transmission wheel (16) which is driven to rotate, a second driving force transmission wheel (32), an endless driving force transmission member (22) mounted around both the first driving force transmission wheel (16) and the second driving force transmission wheel (32) for transmitting driving force therebetween, and an eccentric shaft (40) which has a pivotal axis (O) at a position eccentric to an axis (Cb) of the second driving force transmission wheel (32) and on which the second driving force transmission wheel (32) is rotatably mounted. The driving force transmission device (P) is adapted so that the distance (Ls) between an axis (Ca) of the first driving force transmission wheel (16) and the axis (Cb) of the second driving force transmission wheel (32) can be changed by pivotally moving the eccentric shaft (40) about the pivotal axis (O).
