An electric power supply device , combining an overload protector device and a starter device each other, and an equipment using thereof comprises a socket terminal connected to an electric part of the overload protector device , and a convex portion opposing to a tip opening portion of the socket terminal , which is nearly in conformity with the shape of that tip opening portion and has a little gap therebetween, wherein while keeping superiority in work of assembling external apparatuses onto the terminal pins, prying force caused onto the tip opening portion when the socket terminals of the starter device are fitted onto terminal pins of an external equipment is suppressed, thereby to improve reliability.

An overload protective apparatus has fixed contacts connected to at least one pair of fixed terminals secured on the bottom of a case, a dish-shaped polymetallic element, e.g., a bimetal or trimetal having movable contacts bonded thereon so as to oppose the fixed contacts, and an adjusting bolt supporting a central portion of the polymetallic element for maintaining the polymetallic element at a position separate from the bottom of the case, wherein the polymetallic element and the adjusting bolt are accommodated in the case. The polymetallic element used herein is constructed to make a current density around bonding portions for the movable contacts higher than other regions, such that portions around the movable contacts are more susceptible to rupture when an abnormal current flows through the polymetallic element. The polymetallic element is also constructed to prevent degradation of the spring constant thereof.

Overload protective apparatus utilizing a bimetal

A thermal protector comprises a case having a space surrounded by a bottom surface and a wall surface; a pair of fixed electrodes secured to the bottom surface of the case and located so as to be separated from each other in the space; a disk-shaped bimetal disposed in the space so as to be opposite to the fixed electrodes; a pair of contacts disposed on extremity portions of a surface of the bimetal opposite to the fixed electrodes, the bimetal being either in a conductive state, where the contacts are in contact with the pair of fixed electrodes, or in a non-conductive state, where, the bimetal being deformed, depending on temperature, they are not in contact with the pair of fixed electrodes; and inclined portions disposed on the wall surface with a predetermined interval from the extremity portions of the bimetal when the bimetal is deformed.

Thermal protector

An overload protective device to the disposed in an electric circuit serving to supply current to a load has a pair of fixed contacts provided inside of a case and an inversible disk-like bimetal of a curved shape having a pair of movable contacts capable of coming in contact with the fixed contacts, respectively. A shaft is fixed to the case at one end thereof and formed with a head portion at the free end portion. The shaft extends though a hole formed in the central portion of the bimetal. When the bimetal breaks, a circuit breaker breaks the electric circuit permanently to thereby prevent the load and the overload protective device from being burnt out.
