A management server acquires storage and application information from a first system to store the information. The storage information includes storage area correspondence information indicating a correspondence between a storage area and a processor. The application information includes application correspondence information indicating a correspondence between the processor and an application, and application configuration information indicating a past Input/Output (IO) load on the storage area. The management server estimates an IO load on the storage area by the application based on the storage and application information to obtain an estimated value, and determines whether or not a copy processable period, a period in which a copy process of data can be performed is present, based on the data size and the estimated value. When the copy processable period is present, the management server transmits a copy indication including a start time of the copy processable period to a copy processing server.

A non-virtual server and a virtual server make up the same tenant in an environment, in which virtual servers created by dividing a single physical server into a plurality of computer environments coexist with a non-virtual server that directly uses a single physical server as a computer environment without using server virtualization. A management computer is provided with virtual switch management information that shows a correlation between the virtual servers and an internal network to which a relevant virtual server connects, and physical switch management information that shows a correlation between the non-virtual server and an internal network to which the non-virtual server connects. In addition, user manager monitoring profile item management information for virtual/no-virtual environment is prepared, and with reference to this information, calculation methods, which specify monitoring items to be monitored out of monitoring items and infra monitoring items for each environment, are managed. In a cloud environment where multiple applications having different performance characteristics are operated in a mixture, in order to specify the cause of performance deterioration and to solve the confliction of requests related to a shared resource, the present invention detects the performance deterioration of resources allocated to multiple instances constituting a logical server configuration, and extracts an instance sharing resources existing performance deterioration, and compares a performance tendency of the extracted instance and a performance pattern showing a characteristics extracted from a performance information of the resource in association with a bottleneck factor, to thereby estimate the bottleneck factor by calculating mutual similarities and determining a performance pattern where the calculated similarity becomes maximum.

A system comprises a first storage system, a second storage system, a plurality of switches, and a server connected with the first storage system via a first group of switches and connected with the second storage system via a second group of switches. Embodiments of the invention provide object-based tier management to improve the allocation of objects to different media of different speeds based on access characteristics such as access frequency. One embodiment is directed to a method of managing object-based data in an information system which includes an application server and a storage system. The method comprises receiving a write command including a first data to be written into a virtual volume; identifying an object to which the first data corresponds; checking if a second data corresponding to the object has been stored in the virtual volume; if the second data has been stored in a page of the virtual volume, checking if the page which stores the second data has a vacancy area; and if the page has a vacancy area, writing the first data in the page which stores the second data.

An aspect of the invention is a storage networking system comprising subsystems coupled with a network. The subsystems include an initiator subsystem having an initiator I/O (input/output) control unit, and a plurality of target subsystems each having a target I/O control unit. The initiator subsystem is configured to: place priority information in packet address of an I/O command packet, the priority information being based on a priority table; send the I/O command packet to one or more of the plurality of target I/O control units; and receive a return I/O packet from each of the target I/O control units that received the sent I/O command packet, the return I/O packet having the same priority information. The priority information provided in the priority table is priority of storing I/O data. The I/O data is transferred according to the priority information placed in the packet address of the I/O command packet.

In one implementation, a system includes multiple SCSI nodes configured to perform a SCSI target function. Each of the multiple SCSI nodes includes a host bus adaptor configured to connect the SCSI node with a Fiber Channel fabric. The host bus adaptor being assigned a world wide name and a network address. The system further includes a host configured to perform a SCSI initiator function. The world wide name assigned to a source host bus adaptor associated with one SCSI node is relocated to a target host bus adaptor associated with another SCSI node. After that, the network address associated with the source host bus adaptor is relocated to the target host bus adaptor. In one implementation, the system determines whether or not a network address assigned to a source host bus adaptor associated with one of the multiple SCSI nodes is shared with at least one other service. If so, the system determined whether the shared network address can be relocated to a target host bus adaptor associated with another one of the multiple of SCSI nodes. If the latter determination is in affirmative, the world wide name and network address are relocated.

Embodiments of the invention provide methods and apparatuses for block based storage subsystem to have backup ability to a file based storage service such as HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) or cloud storage service. In one embodiment, a storage system is coupled via a network to a storage service which has one or more file servers. The storage system includes a volume-based snapshot control module configured to create a snapshot volume of data at a certain time, the snapshot volume being a block-based volume which is divided into a plurality of portions. A copy control module is configured to read each portion of the snapshot volume and send said each portion as file data to the storage service via the network, and to generate mapping information between an address of said each portion in the storage system and a file identifier of the file data of said each portion in the storage service.
