An intake passage for an internal combustion engine is provided on the downstream side of a throttle valve with a fuel injection nozzle connected through a fuel passage to a fuel pump and is additionally provided on the upstream side thereof with an air metering valve arranged to be turned towards its opening side according to increase in an intake negative pressure, and the fuel passage is provided with a fuel metering valve interposed therein. The fuel metering valve is formed into a slidable type spool valve, a valve body thereof is disposed in parallel with a valve body of the air metering valve and a lever is swingably supported at its middle portion and is in engagement at its one end with a cam mounted on a turning shaft of the air metering valve and is in engagement at its other end with a valve rod projecting from one end portion of the fuel metering valve.

Fuel injection apparatus for internal combustion engine

A mixture control apparatus for a carburetor which precludes otherwise possible occurrence of fluctuation in the opening angle of the throttle valve even when the engine operation happens to fall near the boundary between the cold state and the hot state. The electric motor for driving the throttle valve is prevented from moving to the side of reverse rotation thereof from the side of normal rotation thereof past a home position after said engine has been changed to its hot state and unless a stop of said engine is detected.

Mixture control apparatus for carburetor

An engine control system is provided with a memory having an area addressed by two parameters chosen out of a group of throttle valve position, manifold pressure and engine rotation number, memorizing digital forms of predetermined fuel injection quantities plotted at points separated with a given distance. The values stored in those areas are read out to give a digital form of fuel injection quantity addressed with said parameters introduced by the sensors during the engine operation. The read-out value is multiplied by a coefficient concerning at least one of such detected values as air pressure, aspirated air temperature and engine temperature in order to give a corrected quantity with which the fuel injection is controlled. In this invention the digital controlling quantities stored in the first memory are plotted with short interval and high accuracy where the throttle opening angle is small and the interval is increased with increasing throttle opening angle. It is favorable in this invention to use a higher order bit signal of the parameter for reading out the necessary fuel injection control digital quantity from the memory, and to use a lower order bit signal of the parameter for interpolating the read-out fuel injection quantity.

Engine fuel supply controlling system

A vacuum-operated air-valve actuator has a vacuum chamber held in communication with the intake air passage not only at a point between the air valve and the throttle valve but also at a point on the downstream side of the latter. In low load engine operation, the actuator is fed with a relatively high vacuum occurring on the downstream side of the throttle as well as with a lower vacuum in the Venturi and acts to increase the opening of the air valve. As the result, the vacuum in the Venturi, under which a fuel metering device operates, is reduced and accordingly the amount of fuel metered out is reduced to minimize the density of unburnt ingredients in the engine exhaust gases.

Fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine

An engine control system is disclosed which comprises a means for storing engine control data with such parameters as throttle valve opening angle for regulating the quantity of the air taken into an engine cylinder, an intake manifold depression and an engine speed, a means for reading-out said engine control data with the parameters of the intake manifold depression and the engine speed in light load condition and with the parameters of the throttle valve opening angle and the engine speed in heavy load condition, and a means for controlling the engine using the read-out data. The change of parameter in said system is achieved by using at least one of the throttle valve opening angle, intake manifold depression, engine speed and the engine control data. The locus or the valve of the changing point in parameter replacement from the intake manifold depression to the throttle valve opening angle, or vice versa, may have a hysteresis characteristic. Furthermore, said changing point may be shifted in response to the engine speed.

Engine control system

An apparatus to control a liquid level in a carburetor with a fuel chamber formed in a main body of the carburetor. A level detecting element, i.e., thermistor, in the upper portion of the main body produces an electrical signal in response to liquid level, opens and closes an electromagnetic valve. Inflow of the fuel to the chamber is thereby controlled. A small chamber is formed in the fuel chamber by a partition for insertion of the detecting element.

Apparatus for control of liquid level in carburetor

A carburetor equipped with a starter, having a starting mixture supplying passage, and an automatic starting mixture adjusting device. The starting air supplying passage merges into the starting mixture supplying passage and a starting piston is provided at the opening where such passages are merged in each other. There is a heat-sensitive body disposed at a position where it can receive heat from an engine, such that the starting piston is displaced by a displacement or deflection of the heat-sensitive body for adjustment of the degree of opening to adjust the amount of mixture introduced into the intake passage of the carburetor and the air fuel ratio of the mixture.

Adjusting device for starter-equipped carburetor

A control system for the choke valve of a caburetor employs a bimetal element heated by an electric resistance heater when the engine is running to move the choke valve toward open position. A vacuum actuator is connected to move the choke valve toward open position when manifold vacuum pressure develops upon starting of the engine. Linkage connects the throttle valve to an unloader device which insures that the choke valve is held open when the throttle valve is opened beyond a predetermined limit. A temperature responsive device subjected to a flow of engine coolant or lubricant operates a fast idle device which holds the throttle valve at fast idle position and allows it to return to slow idle position only when the engine coolant or lubricant has been heated to a sufficient extent. The fast idle device is connected through linkage to prevent closing movement of the choke valve in the event that the engine is stopped in hot condition, thereby facilitating re-starting of the engine while hot.

Carburetor choke valve controlling device

An automatic choke valve apparatus in an internal combustion engine in which an operation shaft connected to a choke valve provided in an intake passage of an internal combustion engine and a driving shaft connected to a pulse motor are interconnected through an intermediate torsion spring and are engaged with one another through circumferentially disposed front and rear pawls for being feed-driven only in a regular direction of rotation of the driving shaft. By effecting reverse direction of rotation of the driving shaft and then regular direction of rotation of, the choke valve is first placed into a starting position setting and then into an open-degree position after engine firing is carried out by the pulse motor effecting rotation in the regular direction for a length of time and at a speed both depending on engine temperature.

Automatic choke valve apparatus in an internal combustion engine

Automatic choke valve apparatus for an internal combustion engine in which the degree of opening of a choke valve is selectively controlled by a drive pulse motor drivingly coupled to the valve. A pulse circuit controls the pulse motor, and comprises a pulse generator which oscillates at a fixed frequency and produces an output pulse signal for operating the drive pulse motor, and a variable type flicker coupled to the output of the pulse generator for intermittently controlling the output pulse signal in accordance with engine temperature.

An automatic choke valve apparatus for an internal combustion engine in which an operation shaft connected to a choke valve provided in an intake passage of an internal combustion engine and a driving shaft connected to a pulse motor are connected together through an intermediate torsion spring and are engaged with one another through circumferentially disposed front and rear pawls for being feed-driven only in regular direction of rotation of the driving shaft. The choke valve is given a starting position setting in such manner that, by the operation of the pulse motor, the driving shaft undergoes excessive rotation beyond the fully closed position of the choke valve. A fast-idle cam cooperating with a throttle valve provided in the intake passage is angularly extended in one direction so as to form a low temperature cam portion comparatively large in cam height and the fast idle cam is connected to the driving shaft through a gang mechanism such as a link, so that in the course of excessive rotation of the driving shaft, the cam undergoes excessive rotation corresponding thereto and the low temperature cam portion is placed into operating position.

An automatic actuator for a carburetor choke valve of the type having a case supporting a heat and electrically conductive shaft therein and attached to said shaft a temperature responsive choke valve operating means, a heater for actuating said choke valve operating means, and a heat sensing means for sensing heat from said heater and for controlling current to said heater.

An automatic choke valve apparatus for an internal combustion engine comprising a choke valve mounted in an intake passage of an internal combustion engine and having an operation shaft connected to a driving shaft of an external pulse motor through an intermediate torsion spring and through circumferentially disposed front and rear pawls such that drive rotation from the motor can be effected only in the regular direction of rotation thereof. A driving pulse circuit is connected to the pulse motor to drive the same between first through fourth sequential operation conditions by respective detecting of the closure of an engine ignition switch, closure of an engine starter switch, beginning of complete firing of the engine, and continuing of the complete firing. The motor is driven in reverse direction of rotation in the first operation condition and in sequential regular direction of rotation in the second to forth operation conditions. In the first operation condition the motor is driven in predetermined high speed reverse direction of rotation, whereas in the second operation condition, it is driven in the regular direction of rotation for a predetermined constant time interval at a speed corresponding to engine temperature, whereas in the third operation condition, it is driven in regular direction of rotation at a predetermined high speed for a constant time interval, while in the fourth operation condition it is driven in the regular direction of rotation at a speed corresponding to engine temperature.
